I've not had this long and no official service history

I understand that a Audi/VW of this era should have a light clutch, mines really heavy , like hurt sloe or ankle after driving.

Any idea what to look at first?
I've heard a over the centre spring upgrade?

A clutch at the end of its life can get very heavy. How many miles/when was last new clutch?

Not sure, the biting point is quite high too, I was thinking it may be a end of life problem

Does sound like end of life of clutch components. The biting point on Audi A4 style cars is fairly high from factory - I've had my car since it was almost new and put 90k on it and the clutch bite as always been just above half way. The clutch itself is fairly light though.

You could try a brake and clutch fluid refresh but I am doubtful it would help. It's more likely the mechanical parts are old and worn.

Everything was pretty clean when I got it, only done 1k or so.
I was told what had been changed and serviced, looking underneath the suspension etc is fairly new

i meant the mechanical parts in the clutch rather than the car.

No idea, think it's use it till it almost brakes(I hope) then replace it
