Looking for a new vehicle,

£10k +/- (upto £12k possible)

Need 7 seats and 4wd.

Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento and Nissan Qashqai+2 have all been considered.

Anything else to consider which fits the bill?

Indeed there is, and how does 225 bhp thrown into the mix tickle your fancy sir? Behold the Subaru Exiga:

Loads of choice. What really matters is, ulez or not, and how often are all 7 seats needed as well as any luggage? Plenty of small 7 seaters, or huge.

So if you can make your requirements clear, the list gets much more precise!

Eg the Qashqai has two pop up seats in the boot. Fine for under 6's you don't like much. Sod all use for granny and grandad and a week in Morecambe.

You’ve won the thread.

Didn’t know these existed, what an awesome MPV. (There’s a sentence I never knew needed to exist)

I do need a bigger car so I'm tempted by it myself but I don't really need a 7 seater.

For £10k?

As someone that trawled for 7 seaters extensively around that price point a year ago, I can't remember seeing any that were both for sale and had 4 wheel drive.

A search by that spec throws up Range Rovers, Tiguans, EQB's, Kodiaq, some Bentley thing, a Defende, Kia Sorento, Tesla Model Y, Q7, XC90, Seat Tarraco and a few other things. The Kia Sorento is the only one that's going to be anywhere near 10k isn't it?

To be honest, I couldn't find many 7 seaters at all at that price point, it was Vauxhall Zafira or ex-Taxi S-Max's.

There's loads of BMW X5 E70's with 7 seats for less than £10k. Obviously it depends on how big you want the 3rd row to be!

Is there? When I looked most of them didn't have the optional seats in the boot. I could only find a handful and they all had mega miles on them.

We have 3 criteria before considering where to look,

£10k, 7 seats, 4x4. 1266 on Autotrader alone. None are showing as Cat D.

Add some additional criteria, like ulez compliant, and you get naff all.

Hence asking the OP to clarify what he or she or they wants.

And that's also before looking at Scumtree where good value sub 10k stuff is sold privately, and Facebook of lies, where council types offload their poorly crash repaired children wagons.

Plenty out there, criteria dependent. And with the open goal given, you have 1266 to choose from

There's lots for sale, but X5's generally seem to have quite a lot of miles on them.

I recently bought one and ended up with a 7 seater even though I didn't need it as most of the ones I was looking at had it.

I need 6 seats really,
Kids are 11/9/7/4,

5&6 seats are not used often for great travel times.

X5’s maybe a little long in the tooth and some significant repair bills loom? I have consider then plenty, but thinking along the lines of a 63reg Kia/Hyundai for hopefully some reliability.

Disco 3 4.4.

Bought mine a few months ago and it's brilliant. Fits 5 people, a dog and a weeks worth of luggage effortlessly.

XC90?

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202209229...

Decent low mileage example with later D5 200 bhp engine.

I've had 2 and both were very reliable.
Gearbox is a bit slow, £360 tax and 32-35 mpg average are the downsides but they are huge inside, take the mileage very well, great seats and pretty comfortable.

If the running costs put you off then the Santa Fe or Sorento are both good choices.

I’ve been through a few that cost a lot to keep running,

Ive had a D4 3.0 and a D2 TD5, so I’m not shy if a bill or two, but I would rather keep expense lower.

Job jobbed, spare change for an MX5, although they’ll fight over who gets the front .

That looks nice. I'm keeping an eye on 7 seaters too and the XC90 is on the short list.
