Apologies if this is the wrong section

I own 1 BTL property which had a boiler service and Gas Safety check carried out in April. Last month the boiler gave up the ghost and has had to be replaced, this was done last week

I was thinking about when the first service would be due and then realised I now don’t have a valid Gas Safety Certificate. The company that fitted the boiler want £75+VAT to write out a certificate (there are no other gas appliances) and they won’t even need to attend the property

My question is, do I need one, or is the installation by a gas safe engineer sufficient to last me the first 12 months?

You get the first 12 months ‘free’ if installed by a Gas Safe engineer, but as a LL I’d still get one done for peace of mind and probably by a different engineer to cover yourself.

Do they not provide a commissioning cert when they install? We’re not LL but had a boiler fitted a few years back and once commissioned they gave us paperwork showing the tests they had done which must be the same as testing a boiler already in place?

The installer should provide the certificate, assuming they are Gas Safe Registered.

If they are being awkward just get a duplicate.
