Interesting. How do you go about fitting a dash to a completely different car? How did you find fixing points?

The dash bar itself bolts right in, the dash however needs some persuading. It's a fair bit bigger, it just needs trimmed at the windscreen and pieced in. The dash will be flocked eventually so it wont be as noticable. The conversion using everything from a MK7 dash wise, including the steering column so the rest bolts up as it would in a MK7.

We just did all the easy stuff, Connor is doing all the hard stuff (the conversion itself) but yes he's very brave tackeling a full rewire. He's done a few before though so he knows what he's doing

This is great, I have a tuned Mk7 ST with an LSD and it does indeed make a huge difference, makes it more consistent and predictable, less apt to do lane changes under power in the wet.

So much cooler it being the earlier model, and I know the MK6 ST had its fans and was well reviewed, but power wise, these days its not up there so converting to the 1.6 Turbo engine makes a lot of sense as it has more scope than you actually need in a Fiesta. Could be a good sleeper as no Mk6 was all that fast as mentioned

Be interested to see how it drives compared to a Mk7, pretty much the same I would hope, looks like they are fairly closely related.

I suspect you will get the bug for more power than 250 bhp and be looking for a hybrid turbo for it though.

100% one of the best mods to do is a diff, totally transforms a car and you don't realise how much until you drive a car with one. Yes, although a nippy car as standard they are not fast by any means, a modern diesel would out perform it, and if it's a choice on a MK6 ST or a 172/182 then the MK6 would lose every time.

I expect this to drive very nicely, every handeling mod i can do currently has been done. Everything should be tight and it should hold to the road very well.

So, for this year as mentioned I think it will be somewhere around 250bhp but that's only till next summer where I plan on an S280 and anything else required for a stage 3 map. I already have other supporting mods so it would only be a case of fuel delivery maybe. This should take the car to around 350-380bhp safely. This is more power than I'll ever need in a FWD car so that's the end goal. There are a few MK6 Ecoboost conversions up here in Scotland and they go very well compared to a MK7 with similar power. Lighter, although not by much will also help. Geometry set up properly will also massively help.

Clever stuff, especially given the dash integration. Bookmarked.

Thanks mate, yeah the dash is one of my favourite things. Most people leave the MK6 one in and fit the MK7 light controlls, keyless start, clocks etc but this way it just looks neater I feel and is a bit more unique. Everything from a MK7 is there and working apart from the heater box.

Really liking the look of this. Can I ask where you sorted the centre caps for the 2118s? You don’t see many of these in Ford fitment.

Thanks mate! they came with the wheels. I originally bought TD 1.2s brand new for it then I seen these on a FB page, a friend was wanting my 1.2's for his own Fiesta as they werent for sale any longer so I told him if he buys the 2118's and gets them shipped up I'll do him a straight swap. The 2118's are in brand new condition having just been refurbed. Everyone runs 1.2's as they look so good but I much prefer these, they're a nice change.

Great project! You doing it all yourself?

That dash and the wiring would give me nightmares.

All the mechanical stuff we've done at my work, mainly my work colleague lol and the task of wiring it all, fitting the engine with the modified mounts, making the exhaust, mapping etc is Connor at Devine Autotech. He's the go to guy up here for anything MK6/MK7 related. He's done multiple MK6 conversions so he knows what he's doing

My bonnet suffers from the usual bonnet crease and finding a good bonnet that's not creased is hard! I bought a wee bonnet lip to hide the worst of it, always thought these looked quite good!

I've also bought a flocking machine to flock loads of interior pieces myself, rather than pay a fortune. It's easy enough to do and with more practice I think they'll be up to standard to use in the car. Here's a test piece I did of some random trim I got out of the scrappies

Oh I'm keen to read more on this! I've seen a mk5 Zetec S 1.6 ecoboost conversion in person so it's always a curiosity to me as a ford fan and mk7 ST owner. I have to say the 15" Speedline wheels look proper with a good meaty semi slick. I have nothing against TD 1.2s but it's good to see a change!

Yeah I agree about the wheels, they definitely stand out more. I may end up with a set of TD's for a road wheel yet

Another job ticked off the list. I had visions of the rear panel being quite bad behind the bumper and had planned on cleaning it up and undersealing it but there was no need, it's mint

The original rear towing eye was cut off and painted to prevent any rust and I fitted a proper TRS tow hook to the most solid place we could find

A hole was cut in the rear plastic next to the reflector so it would poke through nicely. I have the same hook to fit to the front too but I'm waiting until the intercooler etc is fitted to find the best placement for it.

Another silly thing ticked off the list, fitting extended wheel studs. I wasn't happy with the amount of thread the wheel nut had, as you can see it doesn't look like alot

Fitted ones that are roughly 20mm longer

So, the engine is now in and running. Although I'm waiting on more parts to arrive to take to Connor to finish up. Meanwhile he's been doing lots of other small bits.

It turns out this intercooler is too big, so it's staying on for mapping and then I'll buy another that will fit behind the bumper better as I dont want a cut bumper with exposed intercooler, not a fan of that look.

Weve opted for a side exit exhaust. It's 3''back with a decat

Connor got the engine fitment perfect, shafts are nice and level and the arms sits a lot better due to us using Zetec - S hubs over the ST ones which allows the arm to sit as you see.

The front suspension all looks set and happy. This should be a riot to drive, the target of 250hp seems reasonable for not spoiling the car. What bits are you waiting on now and is this your first rodeo with a 1.6 ecoboost?
