I managed to win a caravan last night, I’m in Surrey - it’s in Peterborough. It’s £500 to fit a tow bar and I’m not sure I can get one fitted in time.

Any ideas as to my options? Do the likes of a car rental firm have tow bars on specific vehicles that I’d be able to use? Guess the mileage will rack up as usually they’re free for 100 miles and a shafting per mile thereafter.

  1. Bribe towbar-owning mates with beer/cash/whatever floats their boat for a use of their vehicle or themselves plus vehicle.
  2. Buy a cheap shed with a towbar and a short MOT, then sell it once the caravan is home.

Talk you your local van rental place. Chances are they'll have a transit or similar with a towbar.

What’s the rush? You’re going to need a tow bar eventually, so why not arrange to have one fitted this week and pick the caravan up next week? Seems the easiest/most logical thing to do.

If you strike out I am not far from Peterborough and have two tow bar equipped vehicles, drop me a PM if you get stuck and I will help if I can.

Thanks all. Have managed to find a transit for rent at a good price so will hook it to that. The guy wants it shifted ASAP so needs must.
