Does anyone know what was the price of all the base 911s over the years since inception till now. I remember the new 996 was about 60K new but has anyone got exact figures of all the 911s since 80s. Just curious to find out as I think cars are more expensive now and out of reach of most people even though average income has gone up!

I almost bought a Carrera 2 new in 2006 after a 24 hour test drive.

It seemed affordable back then.

Thing is I'm still on the same money frown

60K in 2002 is, adjusting for inflation pretty much £100K today, so the Base 992 is actually 10K cheaper than it should be if the price had kept up with inflation.

Yep quite bizarre how over time autos invairiably date way more than 'manuels' but the fact was at the time that tiptronics on 911s sold better and at higher prices both new and used than the 'manuels'. Just like older Ferraris the reverse is now true.

In contrast the PDK gearbox has dated relatively well but long term this will no doubt go the same way as the tiptronic in that the 'manuel' cars will be the desirable choice for driving enthusiasts especially on Porsche GTs for which we are already seeing specific models attaining higher prices used the price gulf of which will widen further as fewer cars are available in 'manuel' approaching full mind numbing EV automation dilution.

Interesting how relatively little extra you paid for a 4S over base Carrera back then. These days it's £20k premium!

Good point. I guess you’d basically go and buy a 911 Carrera of some flavour in the 996 era. The 4S had the wide body, but I don’t think it had any more power.

I think now the 4S is essentially a 911 Turbo and then there’s the jump up to the Turbo S (as I suspect most at that level would feel psychologically ‘top trumped’ if they only had the standard turbo!!).

No extra power, pretty sure the difference was the wide body and Turbo brakes from memory

a base 993 911 Carrera 4 - Manual - £59,845 in 1997.

£105,964.08 in 'todays' money.
