Decanting scotch

I've got a very nice antique crystal decanter my Gran gave to me.

And a nice bottle of Talisker. Should I introduce one to the other? Any reasons to or not to decant scotch?

If its lead crystal (made with silca and lead oxide) then the decanter will leach lead into the scotch which you will then drink.....

I wouldn't bother if I were you. Open bottle, decant large measure into glass, allow it to be warmed slightly by your hands and enjoy...

That would be Scottish, only whisky, eggs and chili peppers come in a scotch variety.

Me. I have about 40 bottles all in various states of fullness (or emptyness, if your feeling negative) at any one time. How else can you properly compare them with one another??

And no I don't decant any of them.

Nah. Just drink it straight out of the bottle.

i believe that the whiskey and soda glugers are responsible for the trend of decanting the spirit. as it is usually a blend that got mixed with the soda, so it didn't really matter what the whiskey was, the host could pass off anything as the soda masked the taste. but for a malt, keep it in the bottle......so you can see the label.
