Following so specific wiser related knowledge sharing in this thread Best Wifi enabled Thermostat - clicky

There seemed to be a few of us caught out by some default settings so maybe some knowledge sharing on specifically "Wiser System" could be useful

Digging down in the "Away mode" there is a secondary setting that sets the min temp that rooms can get down to before the heating comes on regardless of "away mode" - mine was set to 16 and both the North facing front rooms had dropped to that temp.
Yeah I've no idea why the default is set so high. I also have ours set to 10.

There is also a setting to leave the hot water on in away mode which caught me out once.
Over to other wiser users to share knowledge - if the thread dies then we'll know there isn't much else to share biggrin

I can confirm adding one of the Wiser smart plugs has definitely filled in some blanks in radio coverage for my Wiser system. Not necessarily something that is advertised / sits alongside the Wiser system on web sites

Any tips for install?
Mine is arriving tomorrow. The wiring and physical install of TRVs looks simple enough.

Is it a weekend job or is a few hours in the evening sufficient?

There is a chance you won't even have to do any wiring. Loads of control units use the same wiring scheme / backplate so it could be a drop in replacement, this is something I didn't notice until I had wired in the Drayton backplate for no reason.

I did my house (17 or 18 TRVs) over a few hours recently

I did mine in a couple of hours - Controller and 9 Wifi TRV's- I hadn't planned to do it but my old Danfoss controller lost it's display again and the HW was stuck on all the time. As I had all the kit I just decided to fit it and pull the old controller out.

The set up and registration was quite easy and quick - I already had a compatible back plate so no rewire to consider.

Don't forget to cut the power if you are swapping units onto a compatible back plate

Thanks both. Only 5 TRVs in the kit I bought.

Will definitely cut the power.
No backplate. Receiver will be replacing my hall stat due to current layout restrictions. L+N supply to current stat.

I remember when I was setting up the app i had trouble connecting to my WiFi, I had to turn off data on my phone before it would connect and vice versa to connect to the Wiser server I think, was a few ago,may be ok now, I had to ring the helpline which was very helpful as it happens

1 - make sure your router compatibility mode is set to support older device networks (mode 2 for BT hub).
2 - power plugs help extend signal into patchy areas; but if you have a 200sqm+ house it can still experience mesh drop out issues.
3 - with larger sqm coverage, battery life suffers on trvs.
4 - plastic trv threaded adaptors require gentle treatment else they can shear.

System fitted for around 3years now. No TRVs.

I have noticed our Wiser often fires up the boiler for a moment, from cold, in heating mode, before cutting it a minute or so later (well before the rads are even half warm, or any heat comes back on the return), before then firing back up again 2mins later.

During this time the 'thermostat' display shows the flame icon permanently on, but the heating light on the wired base unit goes on and off.

Any thoughts welcome.

My boiler goes through a 4 minute cycle if it hasn't been used for a certain period, nothing to do with Wiser

Had an issue last winter where the upstairs zone wouldn’t come on after the summer. Turned out nobody (used to have a fifth brother by that name) had turned the old wired hallway stat down to 12 degrees. As it was still wired in the boiler wouldn’t fire. Easy fix, once found!

Some will, at least run the pump, if idle a long time. But no that's not what is happening here. This is being called for by Wiser.

Have wired in the hub and set up the app.
Unable to add any devices

Power the room stat and try to add it and it times out saying unable to join
The hub setup flashes when in joining mode

Same for the rad stats when put into pairing mode

App can see the hub

Has anyone found a way to easily add a second user to the system please? I can’t find anything obvious in my app, when trying to add the system on my partners phone it wants a full new set up which removed it from my app, infuriating!

I will be interested to know this too - currently I have the app on my phone but Mrs BC will want some control for when I am away

I installed it on my wife's phone and just used my login details, seems to work fine.

Exactly what I did to get it onto the shared household tablet

First minor annoyance after a week and a bit of Wiser ownership.

One of my two smart trv’s lost connection for no apparent reason. Batteries out and back in and alls well.

Shame, will monitor.

On the upside, I got a notification on my phone straight away, so there should have been no nasty consequences during cold weather, we would have known about it.
