I recently changed from an "old" Sky HD box to a Sky Q Box (HD no UHD).

On the old box I had a series link for F1 qualifying/practice/race and it worked reliably.

On the Sky Q Box I have managed to create a series link for the race but for qualifying I have only managed to record one only, which would mean I'd have to record each qualifying individually.

Am I missing something?

You may find they have recorded, but are hiding under a different GP name. So, for example, look under an old GP recording for a certain country, and you'll probably find all the others there too. That's what my Q box does, and it's annoying.

As said above check other races, they tend to stack. I've had quali recordings sit in with practice sessions and all sorts.

Also if you record in UHD you'll find the R symbol doesn't show up in the TV timings I ended up double recording everything as I didn't think it was going to record!

I have never got the f1 to reliably series link on Sky. No idea why, but it means every Thursday before a race I have to go through and manually set it to record.

I'd rather be rid of it to be honest, I'm a little annoyed they've got the contract till 2029.

Christ - is this still happening? It was one of the reasons I binned SkyQ years ago. The interface is bobbins.

If your box is starting to run low on disc space, another place to check is: Home > Recordings > Manage, and see if they are lurking somewhere in there.

My missus recorded the Queen’s funeral (all 9.5 hours of it!) and it pushed a lot of my GP recordings into some sort of purgatory on the sky box.

I don't like how Sky "nest" multiple programmes. But that's not the issue, I can't get a series link set up for Qualifying, only for the race itself.

Agree the interface is atrocious, far worse than my old Sky HD box.

I'm at a loss, then. Maybe try setting the series link via Sky Go on your phone, clicking the option to 'record to sky q box'.

The Sky Q interface is horrible. I'm guessing a lot of Sky customers can't read so they have those ridiculous icons raher than a text list. Plus you might find all the Singapore recordings nested under the previous GP's icon.

Do you think Sky care? Obviously not, after all they must have at least £50 invested in the nasty software they have created..

My Sky Q series link records everything! Practice, driver's conference, Ted's ramblings, pre race show, post race show, highlights. The whole blooming lot! Then it stacks them behind an icon for a race three months old.

Is that series link on the race only ?

I’m wondering if the series link on the race also records all qualifiers too?

I can do a series link on the race but only one off record on the qualifying

Sky really need a software tester who focuses on usability.

About ten years ago as the switch from PCs to smart phones occurred lots of perfectly good software took a massive step backwards so they’d work on mobiles. Take Windows 7 to 8 as an example. Everything went blocky overnight!

I suspect sky’s q interface is more geared to mobile users than large screen users. It dumbs it down too imo, using blocky graphics instead of useful text. Showing my age I guess.

Not sure, and I don't want to turn it off!
If you series link the race and then go into Recordings and Scheduled you should see what's coming up.
Driver's press conference is usually the first. If that's in your schedule you've cracked it.

Mine does that, absolute PITA.
I literally usually only watch the race. Make my lunch and sit down 5 mins after it has started, fast forward the recording to the man waving the green flag at the back and off we go.
Then at the end spend 10 mins finding and deleting about 15 different programmes from the last few races.

But at least you don’t miss anything if the race is delayed or extended.

I'm confused - I haven't had SKY for years, never had SKY Q. But I thought it was online streamed content on SKY Q? Why is there a need to record anything, isn't everything that has been on just 'there' the watch late/following day - pause/skip etc? IE like iPlayer/Netflix, or in fact, F1TV.

No Sky Glass is streaming, Sky Q is like old sky but with a batst useless user interface that makes no sense to man nor beast. Its still delivered via satellite and if you want watch something on a delay you need to record. It will be on catch up later to download but that takes time to be available

So Sky glass is streaming.. but why can't it all be streamed!? And why a delay to watch later when it's content they have paid for live and exclusive?

I'm quite surprised, I had always lazily assumed Sky Q was their response to streaming services and would do about the same. I can't fathom the value of Sky at all if you have a to pay a premium and are still stuck with scheduled TV/recording and I assume still adverts too!
