Bummer for anyone hoping for F1TV Pro.

Sky have just announced they have kept exclusive coverage of F1 until 2029.

Perhaps it's time for a bit of a revamp of the Sky F1 coverage, especially the presenters/team.

Martin B - keep him for every race he's willing to attend, perhaps get his lad (Alex) on the F1 coverage too.
Crofty - meh, neither like nor dislike, bit too excitable but bearable.
Simon L - get shot of him
Ant, Karun and Paul - keep them. Enjoy their input.
Ted - meh, can take him or leave him, seems a bit argumentative and occasionally rude.
Johnny H - definitely definitely get rid. Just an annoyance.
Natalie & Rachel - both do ok, don't enhance the coverage for me but don't make it worse either.
Naomi - decent recent addition to the team, should stay.
Damon, Jensen and Nico - bring nothing to the coverage for me, I get very bored very quickly every time they are on, especially Jenson & Nico.

That's a real shame, I would be more than happy to pay for the F1TVPro access and such, but there's no way I'm paying for a whole Sky package to watch one channel for about 10 hours a month at best, and the NowTV pricing is also pretty ridiculous and can only be watched live frown

Another 7 years too, that's a serious deal, jeez. VPN time perhaps.

For me if I was a Sky F1 boss, I would be looking at what Netflix have done and wondering, how have we kept this job and this contract, I hope FOM made them pay through the roof for it.

I get the two are subtly different, one is a broadcaster showing races, the other a company that makes tv shows for money, but Netflix has made a serious impact on F1 attendances and therefore how much money tracks (witness the scandalous SIlverstone prices) and Liberty can therefore ask for hosting fees.

Damon brings nothing, I like Jensen but can't stand Nico, his constant digs at Hamilton ruin any credibility for me. I'm not particularly a Hamilton fan but it's all a bit childish, move on Nico!

Maybe give Vettel ago? He seems a good guy lately.

Shame about Sky but the £20 a month Now TV pass is a game changer. Anymore than that and I wouldn't bother as to be honest watching takes up too much of the weekend and sometimes end up watching highlights on channel 4 instead.

The timing is so unfortunate. If it had been during the lockdown streaming bonanza someone like amazon or netflix would had outbid anyone.
Now streaming prospects are poison the safe option is taken.

Wow I get the complete opposite.

I always think Nico is great always very fair to Hamilton and gives Merc and the other teams a good kicking when needed.

Just think Jenson is very boring and always a hint of negativity when discussing Hamilton.

Completely different.

Netflix is essentially a cloud server the content of which you access for a fee.

Sky is a producing broadcaster with the studios, resources and infrastructure to produce, mix and carry live broadcast around the world.

Netflix could of course set that up but the cost to do so would be off-the-chart and no doubt reflected in the price you would need to pay.

Held to Ransom by Sky for another 7 years furious

At least give us the opportunity to get the F1TV live. Very short sighted by F1.

The reality is that these two are so closely in bed together, If i'm correct F1TV uses a lot of Sky content, this was innevitable.

Why can't F1TV insist that we can opt out and use their App.

Not everyone who likes F1 uses Sky! It's anti-competitive.

I use a VPN and F1 TV so it doesn't hit me directly, but why did Liberty not use this opportunity to renegotiate so that Sky had non exclusive rights, with the only alternative being F1 TV?

Seems crazy.

I'm amazed at the length of that deal - I do wonder (and correct me if i am wrong) that its not costing SKY as much as we think - perhaps the fact they do a lot of the coverage for F1 and F1 then sell it all around the world, sky might get a cut of it, plus they get stupid C4 paying money to show highlights at 10pm with the utterly irritating DC and his mates, with only lee mckenezie being the jewel in the red-bull-loving rough.

is the F1TV pro only blocked for UK, or is it wherever SKY broadcast? i'm just wonderings if its only us getting stuffed by this?

It's the other way around.

F1TV provides all on-track practice, qualifying and race content. Each broadcaster carries this providing their own commentary plus all the pre and post race content (such as the grid walk) and any other related programming.

F1 uses Croft/Brundle commentary on their Social Media posts in the regions Sky serve and will uses others in other regions.

Looks like I'm in the minority.

I love the Sky coverage & also the F3/F2/W/Porsche that goes with it.

Remember when ITV had it & the adverts used to come on at exactly the wrong moment? hehe

Also, I'm old enough to remember (only as far back as the 80s) that not all the races were covered.

Long may it continue I say!

Choice is a good thing though. A non-exclusive contract with F1 TV being made available to the UK would have been a win-win for the customers. I thought Liberty made a bit of a song and dance about opening up F1 once these 'legacy' contracts they inherited had expired? They've done the exact opposite!

Fair point.

The other thing I love about Sky F1 is the IndyCar coverage. We get much better than the Americans!
