My first winters riding is coming up..

What's the best frame/anti corrosion protection to slather on before it hits and basically just leave on?

XCP seems like Waxoyl in an aerosol I used a tin of the stuff and can live with the cruddy appearance but getting the XCP off the following spring can be a chore.

A friend brushes on ACF-50 which could be a way of getting it on specific fasteners and around stuff at the front of the engine that's likely to catch road dirt and wash.

Used to use acf50 then saw the protection reviews where xcp works better, as a bonus xcp aerosol actually works to apply it.

I've just applied acf50 to mine last week I used a compressor and spray gun, honestly its a game changer compared to the crap spray bottle it comes with. When used in a spray gun it just turns it to mist and soaks everything in a cloud of acf50 mist rather than target spraying certain bits.

This. Xcp in the aerosol is unbeatable. Acf50 maybe an option if you have a compressor but even then it’s compromised compared to xcp.

I’m looking to top up xcp on the underside of my car which I first applied this time last year. The first coat is still strongly in place.

This regularly comes up but the Flairsol bottles circa £7 make ACF mist beautifully

Ok numpty question coming, I’ve a can of acf 50 in the garage and a new bike.
I’m useless at keeping a bike clean.
Do you just cover everything that’s not plastic or a brake disc?
Engine & exhaust etc.

Loads of videos on YT showing you how to do it, if you use the spray bottle put it in warm water 1st to heat it through to make it easier to spray

Personally, I use ACF-50 after a good winter clean. ACF-50 isn't quite so resilient to being washed off in bad weather compared to the Muc-Off protect I have used. Ironically, that's why I stuck with ACF; getting the Muc-Off at the end of the season was a chore. TBH, if poor weather these days I commute in the car and post-COVID that doesn't happen so much anyway.

As others have said, the ACF discharges with a bit of a dribble if you use a can. My solution was to leave the can in a sink of hand-hot water for 15 minutes before using and then it gives a much better spray. The rubbish spray is exasperated by low winter temperatures when your can is in the shed.

I did not know this about heating acf can. I’ve always sprayed it onto a brush them brushed it onto my winter hack.
