Attending Monza GP - Tips?
Discussion
I stayed in Como and took the train daily. It’s cheap as chips ans there is a bus transfer at Monza. There seemed to be two train services, one mega quick and newer and another one that stopped off at a lot more places and the trains were older and a bit manky! Regardless, be prepared for a lot of walking as the circuit is in the middle of the park and miles from where the bus drops you off. It’s great GP to attend though.
As stated, it's a long walk either way.
Parking is a nightmare and on sunday be prepared to sit in traffic for 2 hrs after the race, no matter what....
Train thing is good, but stuffed as well.
Be prepared for bad weather as the ways around the track are natural paths with no water drains and it becomes a lake quite quickly, organising is awful.

The Monza GP train/shuttle bus large event mass people mover is possibly the only example of the concept I've used in all my years that actually seems to work, having seen failed attempts right across Europe all the way from Portugal to Latvia.
The Italians actually organised something! Find out who they are and give their number to Harry potter!

Me too.The fast trains are the ones that come down from Switzerland.
If you want to drive and avoid some of the traffic/queues etc, park a bit further away from the circuit and walk to/from. By the time you've walked back to your car the traffic will be significantly dissipated.
We parked here to the north of the circuit on our last visit: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@45.6347368,9.280474...
It was about an hour's walk from the paddock to there, through the lovely park which surrounds the circuit.

Also on our way there at the moment and just researching the train.
Apparently you still need to wear a max and it needs to be an ffp2 mask…. Not sure if this is enforced but it’s what the train website lists.
I was in italy a month or so ago and the mask rule was pretty well respected. I did hear they were dropping the mask rule though!Apparently you still need to wear a max and it needs to be an ffp2 mask…. Not sure if this is enforced but it’s what the train website lists.

I'd rather an hour walk than two hours in traffic.
We went five years ago, great weekend except the awful weather on Saturday. We gave up mid afternoon thinking qualifying wouldn’t happen, and went back to the hotel in Milan, soaking wet and freezing cold. Watched it in the room on TV!
As others have said, train from Milan to Monza, and shuttle bus to the park, followed by quite a walk to the circuit is the best way on Friday and Saturday. On race day there are special trains from Milan to Biassono and back; Biassono station is just behind the Lesmos and is much less of a walk to the track. Also convenient for us as we were sat at Ascari.
We hung around after the race for quite a while, enjoying the atmosphere with a few beers, walking the old banked circuit, then wandered back to Biassono to join the scrum for the train. We saw people in the queue who’d left a couple of hours before we did, so there’s no point rushing off at the end of the race.
It was amusing seeing people getting on the train with Rolex advertisements, corner marker boards and pretty much anything that could be removed.

Thanks all for the tips - will share what I found below...
1 - We stayed in Como and drove to the track, parking at https://www.gpmonzaparking.it/ - it is 45 mins from Como, no traffic Thurs to Sun in or out and is a 5 min walk from the track.
If you stay in Milan and come in that side, good luck to you. It was horrific queues for trains, shuttles and track access.
2 - Bring your own food and drink. They operate a ridiculous token system where you queue to change money for tokens, then tokens for food/drink at other stands. They ran out of tokens, beer and food. Queue for each of those is 1hr+. If you bring your own food and drink, some stewards remove the bottle caps so put a few spare caps in your pocket!
3 - They confiscate phone power banks. Either have good charge before going in, or be discreet with your charger.
4 - Download the Monza app, the signage around the track is often placed incorrectly. The app gives you GPS and walking routes to different destinations.
5 - On race day, don't turn up early. Everyone does and queues to get in were circa 2/3 hours. We turned up at 12 (4pm race) and walked straight in.
Thats about it! Had a great time!
There was a lot of angry people on social media, which I understand as if you turned up from Milan, couldn't buy tokens, couldn't buy food and drink and sat in queues for trains, shuttles and access for a total of 6+ hours i'd be angry too.
But, we got lucky by accident and due to that didn't experience a single issue.

I'd agree with most of that, but didn't see the same extremes. We were at the track for 945 and had no particular queue other than the long paraded walk to get in. We also arrived from Milan and it only took 39 mins for the 15.5km journey according to my uber receipt. I saw in advance about the phone power banks, but nobody checked my pockets so i was fine. Beer was out everywhere by 1pm and the token system was a complete farce. I've still got 50+ if anyone wants to buy some memorabilia. We found a great spot for crashing the track at the end instead of running the whole way down the straight and were right under the podium for the ceremony.1 - We stayed in Como and drove to the track, parking at https://www.gpmonzaparking.it/ - it is 45 mins from Como, no traffic Thurs to Sun in or out and is a 5 min walk from the track.
