Looking for a temporary saloon car (Ideally auto)

Hi guys,
I'm currently on my second Lexus LS430. My first one was immaculate until an unfortunate accident. I now have another one which I like, and it's in a rare colour. Unfortunately, it needs a bit of work and I'm planning on fixing her up instead of replacing it. I planned to fix it up when I got it but due to circumstances at the time I wasn't able to. I got a couple of years out of it but now it needs to be taken off the road for a while so I can bring it back to its former glory. I can do the repairs myself but it's not a weekend job. So I'm in need of a cheap car to tide me over for a few months, maybe a year (I'm not in a huge rush to get the LS all fixed).
I'm currently looking at Toyota saloons like the Avensis or Camry. It doesn't need to be super economical. Of course, my current car is a V8. I don't drive to work so I just need one to get around in. Ideally, it needs to be an auto. I have a friend who due to a medical condition can't drive a manual and he's on my insurance and uses it occasionally.
But I'm open to ideas of a cheap reliable auto saloon. If anybody has any decent suggestions I'd love to hear them.
