My ex-girlfriend and I stay in touch and are still very good friends. Whilst we were going out I was known for my absend-minded nature. Particular examples that stuck in her craw somewhat:

1. Chatting to her in my room in Hall at University. She asked me if I was free one evening so I nipped out to check my work rota. An hour later she found me playing pool in the pub. I'd completely forgotten she was waiting for me to come back! :paperbag:

2. I was in the pub with my girlfriend and 'the lads' watching a football match. Sadly, the mighty Liverpool were beaten and I was disgusted, so went home. Half an hour later I legged it back to the pub when I realised I had left her in there. She thought I had gone to the toilet. :paperbag:

There were numerous other examples of such behaviour, including losing my car on more than one occasion.

I've been very proud to be able to say that such days are gone and now I'm pretty reliable, mainly because I have to be because of my job. So, I was most amused when I came across this PH News item which brought back the kind of memories described above:

Man Leaves Wife At Petrol Station|http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=11600 :hehe:

Of course, I knew the story would give her a kick so I sent her the following email:

Subject: See, I'm Not That Bad Really!!!.......
http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=11600 :D

This is the reply I got:

Subject: Re: See, I'm Not That Bad Really!!!.......
No, that's true, although you do seem to have forgotten that it's my birthday today.

Sh:censored:t! That's the first time ever - why did I have to send that article today?!

So, to answer all the recent 'Is There A God?' threads on PH, I can confirm that there is a God and he has a wicked sense of humour.

Any other examples of forgetfulness getting PHers in trouble?

Thats funny.

I recently ordered a chinese meal by phone and went to pick it up.

When I got to the take-away, I told them my name and waited for my order. There was much confusion and I nearly lost my cool when they appeared to have forgotten to make my meal.

It then dawned on me that I was stood in the wrong take-away.

SORRY. Then legged it.

Worse was to come, my ex was sitting quietly on a chair waiting for a meal and saw the whole episode. Was she glad we were no longer together?

Those stories are classic!

I would have been given my marching orders ages ago if it wasnt for the calender thing on my mobile. I use it every day to remind me of stupid things that the gf has ordered me to get or do. We just dont have the mental capacity to keep stuff in our head like women do

I used to play cricket with a bloke who left his wife in the opposing sides clubhouse. She stayed overnight in an hotel, then got a train to London the next day. He finally caught up with her as she was about to check in to Clariges on his credit card. She had already blown 2 grand in Harvey Nicks and was still fully intent on maxing the card.

That actually brings another story back...

I booked my car in for an MOT and dropped it off in the morning, as you do.

Later in the day I rang the garage to find out the status of the car, and they couldn't find it! All parites were frantic as they tried to track it down.

Eventually they asked me exactly where I had parked it.

"In front of the 'MOT Parking' sign!" I said.

"What?! We don't have an MOT Parking sign!" the guy shouted back at me.

Long pause....

Me: "Erm.. this is Bakestone Motors isn't it?"

Him: "No."

Me: "Oh... Right... I'll call them then because that's where the car is."

Cue the entire garage p1ssing themselves.

Ive got hundreds of stories, but Ive forgotten what they were

When pulling into the petrol station, my girlfriend says "Remember, salt and vinegar squares crisps"

me: yeah, ok.
Her: You will remember right??
me: Yep, no problem, wink

So I fill up the car, mind starts wandering, and just as Im about to go pay for the petrol her window comes down and she says "Rob, the Crisps, "
me: Yeah, I know. Back in a sec.

So I pay for my petrol, get back to the car, hop in and "You forgot the crisps... again." It happens on a weekly basis

I dont recall the exact details, but more than once, after going through a similar fiasco to the one abovewith plenty of reminders, I turned around and went BACK into the shop I'd forgotten to buy something in, and came out a second time, still without whatever it was that I went in there twice to get.

This is something quite different, and it gets a lot worse after marriage.

It's called selective hearing

There was a story on here a while back, where someone had rung up an ordered tyres. Drove to a tyre fitter, who promptly took the tyres off, and then asked which tyres he wanted. He said the ones he had ordered, and after some confusion, discovered he was in the wrong fitter.

Lucky for him, they re shod the car so he could drive down the road to the correct fitters.......

My wife sent me shopping with the instructions: just buy everything we usually buy, except eggs, we have loads of eggs. On my return she had written a big notice which said "I bet the twonk buys eggs". She was right.

I have heard a story of someone with a LHD car. It was his first LHD car and he kept getting in the wrong side.
His solution was to leave a book on the driver's seat so he could pick it up, make it look like he wasn;t mad, get out of the car and get back in at the right side again!
Priceless!
