Is that racket broadcast all over the circuits or just around the start line area?

It’s f***ing awful, even on the telly!

From previous experience (Spa) it was only in the Max Verstappen stand (where we were, as my wife is Dutch). The Dutch of seemingly all ages love loud techno and DJ’s. Not surprised it is worse at the actual Dutch GP!

P.S. my wife hates techno, but as a ‘one off’ it was quite fun in the Verstappen stand, everyone dancing/congas etc.

Cheers. I’ve turned the telly volume down for now…

I concur-had a group of Dutch lads next to us on the campsite at Le Mans a few years ago and it was the soundtrack to the weekend. Great bunch of guys and hugely welcoming/a great laugh!

It’s hard to gauge an atmosphere when you’re not there but why is everyone equating loud dance music being pumped through track speakers with a good atmosphere?

Also, why do they have stands with just Max fans? Motorsport isn’t like football and doesn’t need segregation. That said, I’ve worked in the Netherlands and been in a tv room with new Dutch F1 fans. Annoying doesn’t even cover it, so maybe keeping them all in one stand isn’t such a bad idea after all.

The music is too loud and plain annoying.

I don’t believe it… ruining my Sunday lunch viewing pleasure.

It was a stand at Spa hired by Max for members of his fan club (not me by the way). He also hired the DJ. It was wild on Saturday, but no DJ etc. on Sunday as previously planned due to the tragic accident on Saturday in F2. On Sunday the fans in the stand were extremely respectful (you can kind of see that today with everyone standing up for the national anthem).

I’m sorry you don’t like it if different cultures do things differently to how you think they should be done. Part of life’s rich tapestry (and for info, I only said I like it as a one off). I do, however ‘like’ (not) the gist of your message, which comes across as ‘F1 doesn’t need segregation, but actually it does’.

I just knew at least one reply would point out that possibility! smile

I suppose what I’m after is reassurance that if I do ever go to a Grand Prix again, I can choose an area when I’m not subjected to sounds that many around the world and across the age groups would find, at the very least, annoying.

It was just as bad at the Formula-E in London. Music cranked up to club level and then a commentary stream even louder on top it. Ghastly.

Really makes you want to go doesn't it!

I think some people confuse the word noise, with atmosphere, but as far as f1 is concerned it doesn't seem to matter

TBF the noise has been rubbish since they banned the V12’s.

If that’s what you want, that’s great.

But, as shared by Tiff on Twitter at Spa, music that’s too loud prevents conversation (while there’s no track action) and the songs with foul language in aren’t appreciated by parents with young children.

I’m quite happy to never go to another Grand Prix if it costs a kidney and pisses me off start to finish!

Then go to a nightclub/pub. It is an F1 race not a party.

Abu Dhabi is great for post race.
Straight out of the grandstand for a another quick pint, then walk to the Du arena for a concert.
Seen Guns'n'Roses, The Who, The Killers, Pink, Lionel Richie, Mumford & Sons and a few others on quali night. Sure Sam Smith was on one year but I was overly refreshed and don't remember much of it.

Great weekends one and all.

I don't necessarily mind the music, but it would be great if when sky are interviewing people they can't hear each other.

Which is why the likes of Silverstone have a long term issue. Las Vegas, Abu Dhabi, etc are setting the standard for a full weekend of entertainment, rather than the opportunity to get both sunburn, food poisoning and trench foot in Northants.

Couldn't agree more.

Been to Silverstone over a number of years, each has been awful for traffic, facilities and quality of catering.
About the only good thing was the Towcester Rugby club beer tent.
