Start looking as soon as it gets dark. Unfortunately, the actual peak of the shower is expected around 5 pm UK time which means the sky (obviously) will be too bright to see anything. However, they will continue right through into tomorrow evening, at a gradually decreasing rate.
The meteors can be seen anywhere in the sky but will seem to radiate from a point in the constellation Perseus (hence the name). Perseus is not a very well defined constellation so try finding Cassiopeia as its not too far away from the radial point in the sky. Cassiopeia is the "W" shaped constellation and is very easy to find (as easy as the Plough).

Saw a load this morning at 01:00AM northbound on the M5. Chatting away on the phone to my mate, when whoosh, a WTF was that? moment. They kept coming for the whole of my journey. Bear in mind, I was inside my cab, and they were easily bright enough to surprise me even with all the reflections and stuff off the windscreen.
