I've decided to get myself an MX5 after spending way too many years thinking of it. It will also be the first car I buy new so I have the fun of speccing it to my liking smile.

One option that Mazda offer is a set of lowering springs that appear to be from Eibach. I'm finding it difficult however to understand if they actually help in terms of handling or if it is only done purely for aesthetic reasons. Does anyone have experience of both?

I've recently had them fitted to mine and the handling is much more confidence inspiring now, as standard there is a lot of body roll and that is now greatly reduced. And of course it looks better biggrin

Congratulations... smile I bought my 2018 ND2 2litre SportNav+ 2 years ago, and the previous owner ticked the "Dealer fit Eibach spring option"
Can't say how much better it handles, as mine is the only ND I've driven!, but it sits beautifully on them... biggrin

I didn't have them fitted on my previous ND, but had them fitted to the new one.

As already been said the car handles much better with a lot less body roll, it also sits better as the wheels fill the arches better.

I had them fitted from the dealer on my 2019 and would do the same if I ordered another. The ride is bouncy but never harsh, very fluid, it's very impressive given the sort of car it is actually.

Only had one issue with grounding out getting into a poorly made pub car park too.

Thanks for the feedbacks!

Slight setback, I live in CH and Mazda here have stopped taking orders for MX5s. Initially was told a 7 month wait, but now I can't even order one.

After talking to the dealer, he recommends either the standard springs or the sport pack that includes shocks/springs, anti roll bar and Recaro seats.

The options and car versions here seem to be slightly different from the UK, we have the choice between "Ambition", "Revolution" and "Prestige". UK MX5s have "SE-L", "Sport", "Sport Tech" and "GT Sport Tech". The prestige version has a nice looking terracotta interior and dark blue soft top that doesn't seem to be on the UK configurator. I initially wanted that one, however it's not compatible with the Sport Pack so I could only spec the lower springs and not the full sport pack. On reflection the "Revolution" spec with the sport pack might be a better bet, even though it comes with a more bland black interior.

Anyway, now I have to wait for the 2023 model year and the options/versions could change by then.
