There’s always a reason not to do something, there’s always something causing procrastination and indecision. The flip side of that is that there’s always times in life to be philosophical and say bugger it. This is the latter! After too many car show visits and many years in company cars that were lovely and capable at covering huge miles it was time get the car I’ve always wanted. Am I happy, you bet. The specs. 987, 2.7 manual with grey interior, suffice to say I think it’s beautiful and an absolute joy to drive. So far I’m 1200 miles in loving every moment of the road trips I’ve been taking to Caffeine & Machine, Gilks and various others. The car itself was from JR Motor company, after looking at several this one was in a different league as was the service from start to finish. If you’re thinking about doing something like this I’d really encourage you to go for it.

Lovely.

Too many of these were ordered in boring black, silver and grey.

Enjoy, they are great cars.

There we are, positive comments appreciated. No coincidence I have an Estoril blue 3 Series so this one really appealed to me. It has a blue roof as well which I understand was a rare option. I’ll look for a picture of the interior as it has matching rollover hoops and transmission tunnel with grey leather. You may have noticed I’m delighted!

It’s not just me getting in on the action, my lovely fiancé who’s gone from meh to oh, this is nice to drive.

Poor long suffering lady while I struggle on with the disease of cars!

Either way, I’ll be mindful.

Lovely colour for it, and I agree, they are great little cars!

I bought one May last year and absolutely love it. Went to Italy and Switzerland in it last month, and just come back from another little roadtrip to the Netherlands.

My daily driver is faster, but this is so much more fun. Best car I ever bought!

Absolutely, it makes me smile just knowing it’s in the garage. Outside of houses it’s by far and away the best thing I’ve ever purchased.

Lovely machine.

Try some 17 inch wheels on it. You'll be amazed at the difference it makes to the drive.

From what I understand the wheels are from a similar period 911, the gent a purchased the car from was absolutely meticulous about how the cars are prepared so he’d sourced the wheels, added the extended storage and fitted new HVAC controls.

Finding one in the colour was a major bonus, grey leather also lovely and light inside.

Good call, funnily enough the subject came up when I bought the car, that’s on 18’s at the moment on the basis of it being the best compromise of how it drives over how it looks.

I’ve a 3 Series on 19’s and they do compromise the car somewhat.

Gratuitous I know but it’s such an enjoyable experience. I’d thoroughly recommend Gilks Garage Cafe nearby or a quick trip to see Vulcan XM655 if in the area.

Next up for me will be a trip to Cadwell (As a spectator) but I’ll enjoy the roads across the Lincolnshire Wolds.

My 987 Cayman had the same wheels on it when I bought it and I tried some 17's to see whether the rumour was true.

Suffice it to say that it most certainly was true and the difference in the way it drives more than makes up for any aesthetic loss (which seems to bother me much less than it bothers others.) And my car has PASM, which is meant to handle larger wheels better than the standard suspension.

I can't imagine what a 987 on 19's is like.
