Belgium GP ticket cock up - any ideas?
Discussion
I am attending this weekend with my boy. The idea was I would go on Fri, Sat and Sun and he would join me on Sun. We are on a family holiday (currently in the Netherlands) and the girls will stay at our site - camping Eau Rouge - on the days we are at the track.
However due to late night and hurried ticket buying I seem to have got a child’s weekend ticket and an adult Sunday ticket in the speed corner grandstand, when I wanted it the other way round. I emailed the organisers asking if I could switch them round and pay the extra, as a child can’t really attend on their own on Fri and Sat, so it will be an empty seat anyway, so surely better for them to get the extra cash. They replied saying that they didn’t understand what I was asking, so I replied trying to explain more clearly, but no reply as yet to that. Current options are:
1) I turn up on Friday and Sat and just let them scan the QR code and hope they don’t notice and let me in / I explain and try and blag my way in.
2)I see if I can get a general admission ticket cheaply from an on-site ticket tout or eBay or Viagogo etc.
3) I try and sneak in somewhere - there are various places you can do this I believe from what I have read on the web, but I don’t know where they are.
Does anyone have any thoughts on which of the above is the best plan or any other bright ideas? Failing all of the above, does anyone know a child who wants to go on their own?!
Any other PHers staying at Camping Eau Rouge who fancy a beer or two?

Made me smile that - thanks! I am hoping my clear complexion and shorts may help!! I have history in this area and bought the boy a ticket to a rugby international before checking he could actually go. My baby faced nephew who was in his early 20s at the time got into Murrayfield using it without them batting an eyelid.
Did something similar many years ago.
By similar I put 7 tickets in the basket but didn’t continue to purchase.
Remembered a week before we all set off and was told they had sold out.
Stayed at F1 camping and basically asked if anyone had spares … ended up with all 7 sub face value (standard admission) inc some silver passes that were over £250…
I’d say try and get in with the kids ticket and failing that you should be able to get one on the door from the multitude of folk with spares.
After Eau Rouge on the Kemmel straight is where we sat, screen opposite so you can get to see some more of the action.
On following trips managed to walk through the forest and be right by the screen… great place if you can navigate your way there.

This. In the Hungaroring there were thousands of people going in, they were not checking that thoroughly, just checking the barcode. Sometimes they didn't even bother scanning it. So you can chance it, if the H'ring is anything to go by.By similar I put 7 tickets in the basket but didn’t continue to purchase.

We are at camping Eau Rouge now. A few fair Brits, a couple of fellow Scots, much Max fanaticism and some rude banners about Hamilton! Stavelot was buzzing when we drove through.
You could do a pH brethren a favour and see if anyone has a spare ticket.(i for the dj to ask for me and just waited as folk offers me tix for folk that had bailed)
Yes I am in. Kids ticket didn’t work - I had my thumb over the word child, but some sort of alert sounded on the device after he scanned the QR code. Offered up Adult Sunday ticket - same tried explaining and offered to pay more but steward not able to do much which is understandable. However a tout (global-tickets.com - very professional he even gave me a goody bag) appeared from nowhere and after a bit of negotiation I got a weekend access ticket (bronze) for less than face value - result! There were a few available at the campsite last night, but though I would hang on.
I am just walking the circuit watching the support races and soaking up the atmosphere as I like to do - will watch F1 warm up from general access at Eau Rouge and see if I can get into my kids grandstand seat for qualifying.
Great day so far - just need to work out the easiest way to get to circuit with the boy tomorrow - I cycled no bother but a bit far and steep for him and the buses from campsite / Stavelot don’t seem very frequent and not sure where they take you.

Superb! How’s the weather?
Sorry I never replied to this, but I took the lad to the race on Sunday, and was looking after him, so no time to post. We then went straight into the next phase of the holiday - city breaks to Ghent and Bruges in nice hotels on the way back to the ferry (next to Zaandvort on race weekend - sob!) as a thank-you to my wife and daughter for the camping etc, was too busy driving and sight seeing to post.Everything about the race weekend and holiday was absolutely epic including the weather - only rain to two weeks was a typical Ardennes downpour on the approach to Spa, but we were in the van on the autoroute at that point so no issues - it had stopped by the time we got to the campsite, the sun came out and it was hot, but not too hot.
Back at work playing catch up now, but I will do a longer write up at some point in case anyone else wants some tips - e.g. there is a very nice little theme park near Spa for the kids. Family holidays with an F1 race tagged on are the way to go I reckon after the success of this one - I'm thinking about Hungary next year!
