For me this is where Alonso decided its time to take the Aston offer. The Alpine team effort was thwarted several times after this as well.

Ocon has a strange habit of aggressively defending against his teammate while doing fk all against other drivers. Racing Point talked about altering strategies to make sure he and Perez were away from each other on track.

Agreed.

Maybe it's a team mate thing. I always felt Rosberg and Bottas would defend hard against Hamilton and then appear to simply yield when challenged by others.

What does Alonso expect? for Ocon to wave him through.

Guys got such a big ego.

Rest of 2022 will be facinating. Alpen somehow need to beat Mclaren in the table and best way is not to smash into each other and ruin
the teams strategy.
Alonso is always on,much to the annoyance of lesser teams and fans. But this time will he just coast to the end of the season?

He defended pretty aggresively against Max at Brazil when getting lapped

He wasn’t getting lapped, he was unlapping himself on soft tyres, as the leaders were on old harder tyres.

Still should have backed out of it imo taking the leader out when you are a lap down is not the done thing.

Ocon is a hothead, plenty of examples, however I always viewed this one as 50/50. Ocon had every right to unlap himself, IMO he did enough in turn 1 to earn a car's width. Verstappen absolutely had the opportunity to avoid the collision and he had much more to lose.

An example of the previous, impetuous version of Verstappen.

Yep all down to Verstappen that one, he didn't need to defend at all, Ocon did nothing wrong.

Absolutely agree, max didn’t need to protect and force it. Not a max fan but he does appear to have sorted himself out this season and driving very well, probably only because he’s got Charles as his nearest rival (who’s making a total hash of it), would be different is Lewis was on his tails I suspect.

Either you have watched F1 only on Netflix, or you just don't like Alonso and simply wanted to rant about him,

We've seen these kind of battles in the past between team-mates and it's a behaviour that no team would accept. Alpine should've done something about it long time ago cause these things have caused a a loss of points for the team in more than one ocasion

I'm not an Alonso fan but don't think that will have upset him too much, you could see it coming from a mile away. I think he wanted to see how far Ocon would go and backed out when he needed to.

Can you honestly imagine Alonso doing it any differently if the shoe was on the other foot?

Dunc.

The point where Aston offered him 2 years and Alpine wouldn't budge on 1 years would be tbe logical point.

Maybe but he is not just trying to make up the numbers and he would have been elsewhere on the grid 2024 if they never renewed him after 2023.
I think he wants the verstappen situation where the whole team is behind getting his result. Stroll sr may like his son but I doubt he captures the imagination of aston martin shareholders and sponsors.

Alonso has spoken! He dealt with things in an exemplery way it seems.
Cant help thinking he must have listened to me regarding his situation at Alpine this year.
The UK press as usual have been st. You can bet they were hoping he would be put in an akward position so they could take great glee reporting it.
Once again proof he is a great F1 talent on and off the track.
