I may have the opportunity to attend this year’s F1 GP in Mexico City (end Oct) probably with some hospitality.

Just wanted to know what to expect - the ‘pros and cons’ ?

Thanks

Take earplugs and a bullet proof vest. The earplugs are for the night when all hell breaks loose.

Also for the dreadful DJ set after the podium.

Never been, so can't comment first hand, but I'd want a package with the most reputable provider possible, that maximised the safety and wellbeing of their customers.

I visited the race in 2016, staying with some friends in Mexico City. In terms of the city itself it felt very safe in the main tourist areas, no different to the majority of other major capitals. Obviously there are areas to be avoided. Best way to get around was by Uber or Metro. We avoided local taxis. When using Uber, pre booking through the app so we had a named driver. We then just kept conversation to a minimum and tried to not make it too obvious we were tourists.

At the track we had tickets for Grandstand 3 overlooking the 1st corner. The track is broken into ticket zones and your ticket restricts you to your particular zone. It was not possible to wander outside of your zone.

Food and drink at the track was very good. They used a token system where you paid at one location, took a token and then presented this at the food vendor. There were also vendors in the stands selling snacks, drinks etc.

Transport to the track is by Metro or Taxi which seemed to work ok. There was no parking at the circuit for normal ticket holders, but who'd want to drive in that traffic anyway!!

I'd say go for it. There's lots of other things to see in the city. Plenty of history to explore. The race sometimes conincides with the Day of The Dead festival. It's worth doing a day trip by bus to the Teotihuacan pyramids if you have time.

I second the advice from Hot Metal.

Do not drink the water, half the paddock went down a few years ago for that reason.

This also includes, don't use the tap water to brush your teeth, and avoid foods such that are washed in it such as salads.

Also its quite high altitude, so go easy on the alcohol, as hangovers can be brutal there wink
