Advice on Mitsubishi L200, 2004 86k miles and known history
Discussion
Hi Guys
Hoping you can help;
We have been offered the purchase at a reasonably low priced 2004 Mitsubishi L200 (Animal) with low mileage and never towed anything. Bashed about but it’s been in the family for 17 years or so doing farming ish errands.
Problem is, the MOT shows as per the picture. Lots of minor stuff but on pickups can get expensive
Can anyone give a very high level estimate of what they think it would cost to fix those and add a bit of preventative maintenance? How much would you budget for a pickup you know hasn’t towed anything (doesn’t even have a tow bar) but has been left at low mileage doing family errands and not much servicing religiously but luckily a minor service in the past few months (very much a if it’s not broken keep it going).
From the picture attached, should I conservatively estimate £5k? £2k? £1k for a general medium price garage? How much more for a bit of obvious preventative?
Just to helps us work out budget if we make an offer
Thanks!

I would be less worried about the minor stuff listed or what it has or hasn't towed and go hunting for rust.
From what you describe, it will be rusty, it's just a question of how bad. Get underneath and have a good poke about.
They're pretty simple and durable mechanically but rust is expensive to fix and can easily write off something of that age.
