So I have the Carwow app, and built some cars including a Q7 etc, just curious to see the best price I could get. I know about the market conditions and didn’t expect any significant discount, or any discount at all really. But weeks later, the cars are just showing as “waiting for offers”.

Is carwow and similar a completely redundant concept in today’s car market?

No, but the discount is about £300 now.

But if no offers come through it totally defeats the object of Carwow. You might as well cut out the middle man and pay full whack to the dealer.

Maybe currently, no money off because so few cars to sell and high demand

Most likely why they have branched out into used cars too.

A lull more than redundancy, try it on something like a hyandi i30 and you’ll get more offers

I put in an enquiry for a Skoda Kodiaq a few weeks ago and was surprised to see 11% off list being offered.

Had several offers.

Have you thought that the enquiry to conversion rate for cars of this type and value is so poor that dealers just don't bother?

See what’s on AutoTrader - using Q7, there’s twenty listed, mostly discounted a few £K.

Quotes from carwow etc will be a good barometer for the market.
Offers increasing will be a good indicator of supply increasing above demand.

Are we not years away from that happening, if it ever does?

I'd say 12 months from now. Increasing capacity in auto production works through backlog.
Raging inflation, higher interest rates and likely recession reduces demand.

Having bought SWMBO’s current car via Carwow I gave it a go again.

I had tried the dealer we bought from in 2017, but they wanted over list price & quoted 9 months delivery.

So I was pleased to get several offers via Carwow, the best one was 3.9% discount & October delivery for a car we can spec up ourselves.

They are both Mini convertibles. We are replacing her 2017 model with something very similar spec wise, but will be auto. It’s £10,000 more now than five years go

Is a dealer allowed to quote an over list price for a brand new car? Shocking if they can.

No dealers cant quote over list price for new cars.

I assume he meant they wouldnt discount it rather than over list price.

They're not redundant. In the current market, discounts are few and far between, so they won't bother quoting

Let us all know how you get on seeing as every other thread you've started was about how you can save money but not upset the neighbours

Impressed that you can get a mini with both a discount and a pretty short delivery time.
Actually any car just right now !

Well it may have been their maths, but their offer price was higher than the Mini configurator figure

If its anything like Porsches configurator it quotes the car price rather than the OTR price, which might have been the difference?

These new Mini prices seem absurd. Why are people still buying them?
