Buying an NI registerd car

I'm looking at a car, it's got an NI number plate, and I live in England. is it easy to get it rergistered with a standard GB plate?

at 20k, 1 owner, dealer approved, its some 3k cheaper than the next price up, both low mileage 2018 models, is it anything to do with coming from NI? Any other reason not to buy it?

I bought a car from NI, no pitfalls.

Personally I just left it on the NI plate as I thought it's kinda neat. I imagine if you didn't want to do that, you could at the least get a fairly un-special 'cherished plate' from the DVLA for £250 ( https://dvlaregistrations.dvla.gov.uk/search/resul... ) . I'm not sure if there's any procedure for requesting a new plate otherwise, as NI is just another part of the UK officially.

You should be able to write to DVLA and request a mainland plate.

Yep all NI cars are worth so much less because they come from an undesirable postcode. Much better paying a premium for a good old home counties one don't you know?

If the plate bothers you that much then spend £250 on a private one apart from that enjoy the 3k saving.

Assuming these are what I think they are the one with the tow bar is in better condition bodywork wise. I've looked at them both last week.

Indeed. Happened all the time in my eight years over there. Like a magnet for scrotes a mainland plate.

No need for the sarcasm. Firstly, I don't want a car that stands out so I'd want to change the plate. Secondly, It's substantially cheaper than identical cars even within the same dealership. The only difference being its place of original registration. I wonder if there are admin, insurance or other issues that might add cost or make resale problematic. As for undesirable postcode, that's your inference, not mine, don't transfer your own Home Counties bigotry onto me

There wont be any admin, insurance or other issues. NI is part of the UK, and it's already registered with the DVA, so theres really nothing to do.

The £3K cheaper than identical car at the same dealer surprises me. Is the other car(s) just too expensive by £3K? How long has this one been in stock (you can tell by the URL in the autotrader ad for it)

That’s what I was thinking. The car being in the uk shouldn’t really be any cheaper because it’s here already.

I'll have a look, All the similar cars have been reduced, this one by 6k.
