So I have a 991.2 base model with standard S wheels. The wheels themselves are decent with only some light scuffs. I

I’ve been considering getting them refreshed and a slight colour change (slightly darker, but significantly so).

Browsing the classifieds recently I came across a decent set of RS Spyder Design wheels which I like the look of. They’re in great condition (better than mine) and I love the design.

What are your thoughts on these on a base spec? Stick or twist?

Pics of my car and said wheels.

I prefer the simpler design of your current wheels, and would get them recoloured in a darker satin silver shade, like the Spyder wheels are.

Thanks for your comments.

I do like both designs, and agree about your comments of potentially getting mine done a smidge darker.

I’m a sucker for the Spyder wheels but I’m not sure if it’d look as cohesive on a white car as it would on something darker such as Blue, Grey, Black, Dark Red.

Need to get looking!

Thanks

Stick with the originals. They're among the best-looking Porsche wheels.

I’ve always been happy with the RS Spyder design wheels, but obviously it’s an individual choice.

Personally, I prefer the original wheels, especially if they are 19”, which I would assume would be lighter, more compliant and quieter.

A darker colour with a silver rim would be a nice combo against the white narrow body, IMO.

Thank you. It’s about to go in to be upgraded to the S/GTS spec brake set up and the GT3 master cylinder. It’ll have larger front discs and red calipers then, so the look will be slightly different.

..roads for now. When it’s worth less than 50K it can become a track car. My local excellent Indy is helping me gradually upgrade the car in various areas.

It looks like you've got a 6 piston caliper on 350mm discs, so very similar to mine. The idea behind the GT3 master cylinder is that it will give a more responsive brake pedal with less travel before biting. It's a relatively cheap addition. The story is that I was looking for a 997.2 S manual, but they were few and far between and relatively expensive. I then started looking at a 991.1 manual, but the general consensus was that the gearbox was lacking and so by that stage I felt that it wasn't much more to get a 991.2 Carrera brand new. Ultimately I should have waiting for a GTS, but I'd already escalated quite a bit from my starting point. Given that I've really looked after my car and that I'd lose 10K in any trade up, I thought I'd just get on and upgrade in all the areas until it ends up slightly better than a GTS, with the exception of all the fancy alcantara, which I've never really been a fan of anyway.
