A suggestion: Go on a tour to the Isle Of Man

A couple of years back I went on a TVRCC Isle of Man tour. It was an absolute blast. The Island is probably the one place on earth where Petrolheads outnumber the citizenry - and actually welcome performance car drivers to their shores.
They DO have speed limits....what they don't have, though, is a 60mph NSL. Once you see that Black Stripe you are free to travel as quickly as conditions and the road allow.
The fact that Petrolheads find this attractive hasn't escaped the IOM Government or its native tourist industry:- there is a holiday company that arranges tours for car clubs to the Island. Club members are greeted by a government member and a representative of the IOM Police who explains the difference between no-NSL and no speed limits. One is warned that the penalties for drink driving or using a mobile phone when driving are much more severe than in the UK.
After that its fun, fun, fun for a few days. The holiday company can even arrange for the mountain road to be closed to other traffic - specifically to allow club members to enjoy a serious hoon.
Sounds good doesn't it.

So my question is: Could enough Pistonheads gather to enjoy a proper multi-marque version of what the Porsche Club and TVRCC have done before...and would Ted market it?

Even if Ted wasn't up for doing a deal with Magic Holidays maybe we could get a group together and go more informally....
But you wouldn't get the closed mountain road and so on without enough PHers to fill Magic Holidays "book" as it were.
The TVRCC took 60 cars or so...as did the Porsche lot. That's the kind of number we'd need for a formal trip.
We could do a group of 10-20 cars informally with no trouble too...lets see if Ted's interested after BTaP.

Did you have an idea of timing? May be difficult to attract a crowd now until next Spring but there is always the alternative informal approach to try it out first

Jurby: Magic Holidays include a Trackday at Jurby for a £50 supplement as I recall. Again being able to use them would require reasonable numbers to come...as does getting the mountain road closed.
Next Spring would seem like the best time...but as late as possible to try and get the best weather. Although it will be important to avoid clashing with the summer holiday season.
If you check out the link at the bottom of the page you can see the sort of itinery that can be done.
If we do a smaller more informal thing we might still be able to use the Jurby circuit....
I'm hoping that there might be enough interest that Ted/Magic Holidays could do something.
I think there'd be no trouble getting those sort of numbers - was it 90 that went to the last Virginia Water meet? I bet they'll be a few less this time (I was going today but the cold rainy weather put me off!)
As long as its organised well in advance and the weather is ok then it should be great fun - specially if we can meet somewhere and drive up to the ferry in convoy, just like a mini Le Mans trip

It would have to be organised well in advance. Given that the whole thing would last 3-4 days. I think that the TVRCC one started with people getting ferries over on Thursday morning and ferries back on Monday. Its one of those things the since hotel bookings and so on would be necessary that it would go ahead no matter what the weather.
We were really lucky when we went as there was a heatwave! 25-28 degress on the Island (30+ in the South those days!).
We need to make sure it didn't clash with Le Mans too as many of the enthusiasts who would do an IOM trip will also be going there...
Lets see if it could be an "official" PH sort of thing or whether a smaller unformal tour is what we could do.
The only problem with the smaller tour is getting a Trackday (although one could go when Jurby have an "open" one and "hijack" it) and they're not going to close the mountain road for a small group....so.
Lets see if Ted's enthusiasm for PH events is enhanced by BTaP....If not - it'll be up to us.
If I'm right the ferry leaves from Liverpool? Last time I was planning to do this (failed as others couldn't make it for some reason or other), I think it was the M6 all the way and another motorway. The name hollyhead also springs to mind???
Edited to say that I should have just looked at some bloody maps on the internet. I can't find holly head on multimap but I swear that was one of the places we had to go through??? Maybe I'm going mad.
