Whether you believe in it or not, it exists. RSI is an issue, and it's on the increase as people are still adapting to fit, rather than having the correct tools for the job.
It sounds nothing like CTS - if it were the area around your wrist would be hurting, not your knuckles.
If this is giving you grief at work I would strongly suggest that you speak to the H&S people and have them conduct a workplace assesment. If you need further information, then feel free to mail me by my profile.

There is a dull ache around the wrists but it usually fades to a tingling sensation. It feels a bit like when someone gives you a dead arm but constantly there.

OK, so where exactly is the pain, how often does it occur and what are you doing when it does appear..?
Going to keep this brief as I dont want to type - full thing is
Dull ache around the wrists
tearing sensation around the knuckes of the index fingers, worse in the right hand than in the left.
left hand feels "weak", right hand not quite as bad but still there.
