Sri Lanka has less than a days worth of fuel left: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/7/4/with-no-fu...

The country is grinding to a halt and is on the verge of collapse. Huge queues for fuel, food shortages, non-government employees given two weeks holiday to save fuel, shortage of medicine, army and police at every petrol station.

Whilst there are certainly specific reasons why this is happening to Sri Lanka first, I can't imagine they are going to be the last country to suffer massively in this way. And this is just as shortages and recessions are starting too.

I found this to be a good video to explain Sri Lanka's current issues: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5zxYDHwf-Y

Wait till California and Nevada run out of water later this summer:

Then we are going to see rioting and civil unrest on a grand scale.

I was on holiday in Sri Lanka in 2017 and they had long long queue for fuel then, our guide made a point of assuring us they had enough fuel to get us to the airport.

They've been having worse and worse draughts for years. Are they still allowing corps to bottle their water?

Nah, Sri Lanka is far less corrupt and more financially independent.

Dumb fks wanted desalination plants to fix this, then decided to block them on environmental grounds.

Consequences of their actions catching up with them yet again, at least the ones who can't afford to move somewhere like Texas.

Speaking as someone who has first hand experience of shipping container fulls of stuff from the place, every month, for decades, Sri-Lanka has been an administrative fk up for a very long time. It's seldom felt like it is too many moves away from one form of crisis or another.
