I'm on holiday in Germany and so far as I can tell, there are no easy native options for watching F1 if we fancy putting our feet up this afternoon (and for the Austrian GP next weekend)

What is the best way to watch from abroad these days? We don't have Sky so generally watch on Channel4 or using NowTV for a month at a time when there is a run of races that we want to watch. I assume that neither of these will work without a VPN.

Any other sensibly priced options?

I've just discovered that RTL are showing this as one of 4 free races this year. I'm not sure that my high school German will keep up with the commentary, but it's probably enough!

Bumpty bump. Any good solutions for watching the Austrian GP on TV in Germany? RTL don’t even be showing highlights.

When I was over I used a dodgy internet stream on my phone to watch the Canadian GP and just lived with the porn adverts if I touched the screen at all haha.

NowTV weekend pass + a free trial of a VPN (NordVPN, ExpressVPN etc) set to the UK. Works for me currently living in Romania.

Or F1TV might be available in Germany (although I suspect RTL have a sky-like deal guaranteeing exclusivity).

Live streaming in Germany on F1TV is not available due to Sky Deutschland holding the rights (similar to the UK). However, with a VPN set to one of the countries that does do the streaming service (e.g. Austria, U.S.A., the Netherlands) it should be available.

VPN set up on the laptop now- thanks for the advice. We watched channel 4 coverage of the sprint and will decide how to watch the race depending on what we get up to tomorrow. Fingers crossed for a race as interesting as last week but I’m not confident. I’m also now depressed having read the rumours about Spa not being in the calendar next year.
