Raining, grandstand etiquette?
Discussion
Hi all.
First time going to the F1 but me and my daughter have wanted to do it for a while so this year we bit the bullet.
Oh look rain yay! Today was crazy, dry all day until 5 mins before qualifying then stopped just after but hey ho that's Silverstone.
Anyway we sat opposite the Redbull/ Mercedes pits to watch Quali, and it chucked it down. We purchased some cheap waterproof coats from Amazon for this purpose and they where fine, but a lot of people put up umbrellas.
Now if you have been there you know the seats are pretty packed together so if you put up a brolly not only do you partially block the view of the people around, but all that water that is not going on you has to go somewhere and from what I watched today it just pisses off the back of the brolly onto the legs of the people sitting behind.
Is this acceptable in these tightly packed grandstands? Is it normal for people to use umbrellas in the stands.
I don't think umbrellas should be allowed, wear a mac or some other covering that does not soak someone else.
Hopefully it's dry for the race tomorrow but I would have to say something if a brolly was put up in front of me. Or am I being a tt.

... plus also muppets with iPads obscuring your view...
Tell me about it! Went to see James Morrison in Sheffield with the OH a few years ago. Ended up watching the performance on the screen of the phone being held up by the woman in front of me who was intent on filming the whole thing!MitchT said:

(I've also been known to rip air horns from people's hands and lob them out of bounds )
I've just got an image of a little kid crying to his mum that the nasty man threw his horn away Never understood it. Just bloody irritating.
Was at the qualifying today, rain started at bang on 3pm for start of qualifying when all the umbrellas popped up, even when the rain stopped people at the front who had no obstructions in front of them still continued to hold them up...selfish.
Wow the booing Max got in the interview was harsh.
Also had a chat with this fella on the way in this morning while queuing for the carpark. Surprised he had to que with us peasants.

There was a bloke with an air horn but he only used it a couple of times as the sweepers were going up the pit straight so not a big deal.
Fingers crossed for a dry race tomorrow, I probably won't do it again so would like to see a full speed race not a wet one.
Think its pretty much guaranteed to be dry tomorrow, sunny with cloudy patches and 18 degrees. I believe you will get your wish Fingers crossed for a dry race tomorrow, I probably won't do it again so would like to see a full speed race not a wet one.

They'll put up sunshades.I was involved in an altercation once. I thought most would side with the other person, but it turned out that my objections were mild in comparison. I was merely the catalyst. I ended up calming a couple.
I tend to live and let live, like a true blue Brit, but every now and again, the selfishness is so blatant that I am forced to sulk. I once asked the driver of a car who held us up by wandering over two lanes of the South Circular, "How many bloody lanes do you want?". He came back with, "Could I have two, please." I had to laugh.
