Asked in the Vag forum but it’s a bit quiet there.
I’ve spotted a 2007 Fabia Vrs I fancy as a runaround for a year or so, 2007 standard clean car and it’s the limited edition not that that makes much difference.
107k on the clock, 1.9 Pd Tdi engine.
Price is £3000 Ono which doesn’t seem bad to me in this current market.
Anything to watch out for on these?

They rust.....

Check the sills carefully particularly behind the front wheels, get right underneath it.
Jacking points get forgotten and the sill seams get crushed. Stand back 30 feet from the car and look at the sill line against the road, should be straight.
Leading edge of the roof takes stone chip damage badly.
Usual 1.9TDi grumbling (pretty bomb proof)

An absolute hoot of a car though. For some reason the SE variants seemed to rust quicker than the others?

Make sure the cambelt isn’t due, if it is, get it cchanged asap. Lots of these getting killed through this neglect.

From my Fabia days, DMF and clutch get worn (especially if the car has been mapped) so make sure that gear changes are nice and sharp. Also I had the air con on mine pack up. Turns out to be a very common issue with a failed sensor (£30 part) but the book approach to replace involves dash out which massively inflates the price. I found a friendly mechanic who knew a better way!

I also had the clutch pedal snap too… that was a fun day biggrin
