Easy cars to resell

An open subject really.

I change my cars a fair amount and often end up buying something as a stop gap that then becomes a pain to resell (don’t do Px / WBAC as don’t want to take the spread hot).

Recent examples have been S3, S5 and now on a 435D Cabrio. Generally well priced cars I have stumbled upon having sold the main toy.

So the question is, what cars are easy to resell / not losing £££ as I live and breath. I don’t do big miles so MPG not a concern, but probably is to a future buyer atm.

Broad criteria

0-60 <8 seconds
4 seats, any number of doors (would consider a two seater though)
Fun / drivers car
Budget to £20k, perhaps more

Thoughts for my next one….
Mini Cooper S (any guise aside from the Turbo 1.6)
BMW 330E
Fold GTI Mk5
BMW M5 F10
Lexus 450H (ok not fun maybe, may keep as a 2nd practical car)

As you can see, not a narrow criteria so all ideas welcome on cars that you have had that have sold easily.

Not sure how easy they are to sell, but Focus RS (particularly Mk2) have lost about £1 since they were released

Mk5 GTIs, especially the Pirelli and ED30s seem to have bottomed out now (for the rough ones, theres nowhere else for them to go!). Buy a good one and I doubt it'll lose money.

I sold an 18k mile Mk3 RS (2018) last year for what I thought was quite strong money and it went within a few days... My inbox was red hot with people wanting to buy it!

The key to selling a car is buying it right in the 1st place. Don't get hung up on make or model, just price and haggle like hell.

Whatever you buy, go for a car with a nice clean, and complete, history/service history, and of course nice condition.

I've found that the fussy buyers out there are also the ones that will pay the higher prices asked for very "proper" examples of cars.

Especially for prestige/sports, or rare cars.

Cars that are easy to resell are those that are cheap to run, aspirational and perceived as reliable, so basically most German brands. Practicality is also important, so go for something with 5 seats and 5 doors. The general population are very conservative, so no exotic powertrains like hybrids, PHEVs, etc and nothing too fast that they perceive as being expensive to run. Dull colours such as white and silver are popular. Diesels are also a no-no due to upcoming new legislation, etc. Go for something as new and as low a mileage as possible, as most people believe old and leggy cars explode or fall to pieces after a while. Based on these criteria, here are my selections for you

RS Q3 easier to sell than the RS3 because it's an SUV most blokes can get it past SWMBO without to much hardship plus you'll get a newer lower mileage car vs the RS3:

If you want a practical car that'll act as backup to the other cars that'll come & go then the Infiniti Q50 in either 2.0t with a 0-60 in the 7's is a good shout & well under budget:
