Fast tourer - 550 Barchetta or Scuderia 16M?
Discussion
By definition I didn't know whether to post this in the V8 or V12
Thinking about future shape of my garage and considering an open-top fast car for summer touring. I have a 550M currently so that would go if I took the Barchetta - used to own a Scuderia so the 16M has obvious appeal
Requirement would be say 1000 miles a year, some of it in the UK, increasingly into Europe
Barchetta wins on classic looks, V12, manual, normal colours. 16M wins on V8 (I also have a V12 GTO in the garage), thrash-ability, better roof cover if I needed it but I really don't want a red one (and ideally not black either). Both about the same price I think
Thoughts?

for me the Barchetta is one of the really would want one type of cars for summer driving and I don't even particularly like convertibles.
Am considering selling my Scuderia and my 911 to buy one
Also think they are still undervalued for a variety of reasons
16M hold less appeal for me as I'd then rather just keep the Scuderia

Agree with this. The Barchetta luggage set is also a highly desirable thing.Am considering selling my Scuderia and my 911 to buy one

Completely different cars to drive. One is a bit flexible V12 GT, the other a very focussed mid engine V8 that goes around corners on rails. Really depends on the experience you are looking for.Thinking about future shape of my garage and considering an open-top fast car for summer touring. must admit, not sure why people are so stuck on a manual gearbox in a V12 GT? If you love the 550 Barchetta would you not consider a 575SA? It has the classic looks, a lovely V12 and Ferrari were even kind enough to throw in a roof too

I looked at both of these and decided I prefer the V12, but that is purely personal preference and an infatuation with (older) Ferraris A curve ball recommendation from a friend - 911 Speedster

Much much rarer too
Just spoke to the guy taking care of my cars and he said the service and parts costs are quite high

older Ferrari V12s don't generally come with "cheap to run" stuck on the windscreen at the dealers either

I'd agree that the V12 Ferrari is the choice here although I would go 575SA rather than 550B ...although at the price point the OP is at, you could start talking about an 812GTS with some uplift?
