Replacing a 2008 Lexus IS250

My dad is looking to replace his car. I’m a little worried about him being underwhelmed with his next car, so I want to help him choose.
The smoothness of the ride and engine are important.
He would also prefer something ‘higher up’ as its easier to get in and out.
He only does around 3000 miles a year.

Current contenders are:
Lexus UX
Lexus NX (old one, as current model may be out of budget)
Volvo XC40
Volvo XC60
Some type of Honda?
Or a Toyota?
Or perhaps a Hyundai or Kia?

Any input gratefully received.
