Q - claiming for lost luggage off airline

NEVER EVER put this sort of thing in luggage, take it with you. this is probably why it disappeared.... Check your credit card statements often now and if necessary cancel them...
Airline MUST pay you 250 US$ for everyday they have "lost" your luggage, according to the Warsaw convention (only IATA airlines), however you must go to lost baggage and not let them go until you have ALL the appropriate paperwork, with damaged luggage the same! If you don't you have given up your rights by not claimimg immediately, thus the €10 per kilo rule applies.... tough titty!!!

The usual theft is during the x-raying of the bags after check-in. The tealeafs note all bags with "contents", side-track it, open it and thieve, then send it on.
In Chicago they caught a whole gang of guys, who were thieving 100000 dollars a DAY of goods (cameras, laptops, anything electrical/electronic) in exactly this way, even the airport security were in on it! So it wouldn't be out of place to suspect the low paid troglodytes working in the bowels of the airport to be the thieves in this case!
Perhaps a short chat to the airport police at MAN????

Lucky man.

I once flew to Shanghai with a larg number of prototype 3G phones. I arrived, picked up the bag and discovered that there were less in there than I started with.

$10 a kilo. It's a phone. It masses perhaps 250grammes.

Claimed on the company insurance.
