Hi guys,

Plan on doing an interim oil change on my 997.2 S and just wondered what others are using in regards to oil types? I understand 0W-40 is the recommended oil but Opie Oils also brings up 5W-40 (for a lot less).

Mobil Super 3000 X1 5W-40 Premium Fully Synthetic Engine Oil (£64 for a full change)
Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 Advanced Fully Synthetic Engine Oil (£96 for a full change)

Car is used for weekend road driving only and no track work (yet).

I understand this will probably open a can of worms smile

5w40 is a good choice imo for 997’s at this point as they’re a bit older now.

I’ve used the Mobil super 3000 previously, but I put Millers NT+ now in the RS. It’s a proper tri-ester oil and it’s also made in Britain! thumbup

When I had my 997.2 with 50k miles I used the Mobil 3000 you have listed. Mine consumed a bit of oil so that was recommended to me.

Yes, there's a Porsche specialist who will only use Millers CFS NT+
I can't remember their name, but they're well known for rebuilding bore scored engines.

It's Hartech. I've stuck 10w-50 NT+ in my 94k 997.2. It seems to be consumed less than the 0w-40 Mobil 1.
