I live in a vilage a few miles from anywhere that matters. I spent most of yesterday afternoon re-doing the borders in my garden.
At half past seven this morning I woke to notice a load of debris on the kids trampoline next door, and then found sodding great foot prints through my new flower beds.
It transpires that the family next door woke at about 7.15am to find 2 unknown 'youths' happily bouncing on the trampoline in front of their lounge window and asked them politely to leave, which they did over the wall and via my flower beds. They left the mud from my flower beds from the route in, and a few choice plants on the trampoline.
I was astounded. What a cheek.
Anybody else got stories of bare faced cheek?

that is just shocking - but then again the law protects them so they know no-one can do anything about it.
I could regale many stories of the chavs next door but thats been done to death - I do remember a time once when I had been on the phone to NTL complaints and been on hold for 1.5 hours after they had promised me an engineer would turn up to fix my service, they had persistantly failed after 6 days...
So when I got through I said to the guy (surprisingly I was very polite) - "So what can we do to resolve this?"

k off!" then he hung the phone up.
That was one of the more helpful responses I got out of NTL - the cheek of it!!!!!!
I could regale many stories of the chavs next door but thats been done to death - I do remember a time once when I had been on the phone to NTL complaints and been on hold for 1.5 hours after they had promised me an engineer would turn up to fix my service, they had persistantly failed after 6 days...

One evening, some teenagers drove down my parents' dead end street, came back around, paused in front of my parents house, set a pack of empty beer bottles down, then took off. This occured when I was in highschool. I heard them, went out to see what it was, and could swear it was some of my own class mates (whom I didn't know well).
People have such class.

Almost forgot, once I was returning to my parents' house, and as I was pulling in the driveway, I saw a woman standing on the sidewalk in front of our house. Wondering why she was just standing there, I realized, as I got out of the car, THAT SHE HAD LET HER DOG OFF THE LEASH INTO OUR YARD! First there's a leash law, and secondly, you can't just let your animals wander around and defecate on someone else's private property. It's tresspassing, for one thing. I chased her dog off the property and told her off.
And another tale of charming humanity (then I'll be done!)
My parents have a mango tree in their front yard. One year, it was full mangos. There were some roof workers at the house across the street, and one of them came over and started asking my mom about the tree. Next day, all the mangos were stripped from the tree. Nice. Probably to be sold. Dad called the roofing contractor and told him what happened. It can't be recovered, people think, what the hell it's only fruit (though you wouldn't say the same about a prized rose bush) but he just wanted the guy to know that he had theives working for him and word about his company and workers will be quick to get around. So we put up a makeshift fence around it during the season, so it's not so easy. Incidentally, they all appeared to be immigrants. (They've had a lot of illegal migrant workers in FL)

Where we used to live, one resident in the close would regularly let her dog out to wander round. When said dog had 'done its business' she would open her front door and let it back in. One particular day, the dog wandered over to our garden, had a good sniff around and left us with a pile of processed dog food before wandering off back home. (and I ain't talking Yorhshire Terrior sized dog sh!t either)
My wife promptly went out with shovel and plastic bag, cleared it up and put it in the bag, and marched over to this woman's house and gave it to the woman. The dog didn't return and the woman didn't speak for sometime after....the thing that pi~*ed me off was that she didn't see that there was anything wrong in it ffs.

Where I used to live, the couple next door had a large open front garden on a fairly busy main road . I was out side one day washing the car when this car pulls on to their drive. Driving was some lady in some african style type of dress and next to her was a guy in a white robe type thing. I couldn't imagine the guy next door would know them, given his views on people of non white origin. As they had pulled on to the drive, I guessed they must have a reason for doing so. They stopped for about 2 secs and then pulled on the grass and started to do a 10 point turn in the middle of the garden and then drove off ! It was funny enough to see , it was even better when I said about to the guy next door , you should have heard what he said

Don't if it's "cheek", but I am constantly p****d off by people parking on the pavement opposite my driveway - (I live in a small cul-de-sac which is only single track) thus making it either very difficult or impossible to back our cars out. They could park literally 40 feet further down the road without obstructing anyone, but apparently that's too far to walk.
The worse case was a bloke who was distinctly "humpy" when I knocked on the door of the neighbour he was visiting and asked him (politely) to move his car so that I could get out - he moved it, with some bad grace - then put it back once I'd backed out! He was then even "humpier" when I asked him to move again a hour later so that I could get back into my drive!

Some years ago, whilst we were on holiday, our next door neighbour noticed a shrub had been stolen from our garden. She called the police who followed the trail of soil to another house around the corner. It turned out that the guy took a fancy to the shrub so he just uprooted it after a lengthy session at the local pub. The nice policeman made him replant it while he had a hangover. 
On another occasion I came home to find another of my neighbours standing on my lawn with his horse which was eating our daffodils. His 'apology' was "I can't stop it goin' where it wants, lad!".

It's all due to open plan gardens.
We aren't open plan, in fact they had to come up my drive in front on the kitchen windows and the trampoline was only 8ft from the house!
That's not what I mean. Society has been brought up with open plan gardens. As a direct result kids have lost the concept of boundaries, even where they exist.
