991.2 Water-pump Leak and Active Airflow Flaps Fault
Discussion
Hey folks.
Just had my 991.2 Base in for its 60k (km) major service at Porsche. All good apart from the above mentioned issues detected.
I’ve read a lot on the forums about the pump failure on these engines. Mine is really only showing the beginning signs of coolant residue but it’s not loosing a noticeable amount of coolant nor has it thrown up any over temp warnings. Clearly it’s something I’m going to get sorted and I’m working on a claim with Porsche on that. I understand they’d extended the warranty on these to 10yrs but it doesn’t appear to be something they’ve rolled out globally.
Has anyone on here had to claim for this?
Second issue I knew nothing about but the passenger side (LHD car) air cooling flap (or whatever the actual name is for it) has apparently failed. Having never seen them in the closed position, I didn’t know about this issue. Does anyone know if there’s a way to manually activate them? I read that they just automatically open / close based on the temp, cooling needs or speed so it’s something you’re rarely going to see in action. Anyone else had this issue?
