Top 5 cheapest sports cars to run in your opinion?
Discussion
As the title says-
It naturally has to be 2 doors. But being 2 doors only, such as a BMW 2, Alfa GT or Scirocco, is not enough. It needs to be more of a segment S car. More of a true sports car. Meaning hot hatches and the like are also out.
The boxes to tick: manual gearbox, not slower than 8 secs 0-100, not older than 30 years old, if it's not a convertible is better.
Bonus points if it looks good in red.
Should go without saying, but petrol only please.
Cheap to run concerns reliability and maintenance, fuel consumption, insurance/tax and so on.
Not giving a budget, as anything expensive will probably not be cheap to run anyway.
And not to waste your time, an Audi TT or Honda CRX is something I would never consider.
I know the MX5 will make most people's lists. But let's see what we can come up with to fill the other 4 spots.

I really can't imagine much will do better than the MX-5 even if most models are slightly over 8 seconds to 60mph. It really doesn't matter that much but the cost escalation to get something as good but faster (as standard) becomes dramatic through a combination of purchase, consumables and reliability costs. The Toyota MR2 and Honda S2000 are probably there with it though.
If willing to do the repairs yourself a Boxster may be not too much more expensive. 350Z maybe?
