Chimaera brakes

Go to the Reyland site, he does all sorts of TVR brake upgrades and if he sells them they will have been tested and correctly sorted.

yeah I've looked at all sorts of upgrades but if I can use brake kits intended for a ford sierra there is a cash saving to be made, thanks for your input though
People always upgrade the Sierra cos brakes so worth getting the bigger discs imo. Sierra calipers are probably not cheap and are quite chunky / heavy. Be careful as the 4x4 Sierra came with different offsets etc based on xr4x4 and cos 4x4
You may be ok with your calipers and just the bigger brake discs.

Don't forget the rear brakes and where applicable the master/slave cylinder too - just throwing bigger calipers on it won't necessarily fix everything.
Fitted BMW Brembo callipers and focus rs discs to my Griff , no brake balance or operation issues , rear discs were bigger than the fronts originally. This would be better moved to the Tvr section for advice.
As above, I doubt it needs different calipers, just some decent pads as per a Cossie upgrade pad and if required some bigger discs on Cossie adapter as per the Reyland stuff.
I have an 850kg - 900kg 205 4x4 pug with 500 hp Cossied and that stops really well on cos calipers, Ds pads and Reyland discs. To be fair I think I did the discs for cosmetic reasons and it was ok on normal ones.

That’s a fine cutting pattern. Very evenly spread.
How many miles would you say you’ve done on this pad and disk combo Dave?
I know it’s not many based on the spotless chassis but over time it must be a few Thou by now surely.
They look very effective from here.
And just to confirm what size disk is that. My Brembo branded ones are 324mm

Same as Rigga, I fitted the E38 Brembo Calipers, clamping on Mk1 Focus RS Discs.
This set up fits under 16” Estorils……just.
No issues with brake balance, been running this set up for 9 years with DS2500 pads

Do you know what ET and width your Estorils are? I have a Pug 205 with Cossie 4x4 under it and those Brembos might be very useful....did you have adapters made or bought them? (if bought where from?)
My Pug has 8 inch rims in ET30 ad I struggle to get calipers under them front and rear.
I've got the Wilwood 300mm kit from Rally Designs fitted to my Chim400 with the original rear brakes and have found them to be a huge improvement on the originals. I've just come back from a track day at Folembray which is a brake heavy track and the Wilwoods with ebc bluestuff pads didn't break a sweat all day. There were a few hiccups getting the correct parts from RD in the first place but I think they were having a few staff issues during peak covid so will give them the benefit of doubt.

If mk1 Ford Focus rs discs fit, then a cheap upgrade would be 300mm Ford Focus st170 front discs using mk3 ford mondeo front calipers. You will need 16” front wheels.
Quoting myself, you need 15mm spacers between the caliper and hub mount with appropriately longer mounting bolts of high tensile variety 10.2 I believe. Gassing Station | Chimaera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
