dodgy sky satellite signal
Discussion
When I moved house it was a bit of a problem for the sky satellite installation bloke to get a good signal for the dish.
Problem was our leafy and treelined road had tall trees that interfered with a good 'line of sight' to the satellite.
18 months on, the tree in the road outside our house appears to have grown a bit more and is now causing our satellite reception to break up. Our next door neighbour has just last week had his dish moved higher up his house, presumably for the same problem.
Our house is closer to the offending tree, and also our dish is about as high as it can be fitted.
Do you think the council will get as bit pi$$ed if I cut the 70year old tree down at 3.00 am one morning?
Perhaps someone has a more practical solution,,,,

Put it on a pole. (no I am not joking). We could not have a dish at the front of the property so the only solution was to put it on a pole and point backwards over the house. Even in high winds we never lost a signal.

Perhaps not the best solution in the world, but can't you fit the dish to the tree?
Obviously, it's better than cutting it down, and then as the tree grows, the dish gets higher!
You couldn't do it, its not possible
Why not? I was joking, but I can't see it being "impossible", a pain in the a**e maybe, but not impossible.

The tree is on the pavement in front of the house..
The pole job seems like a practical solution. I'd rather nuke the tree really as it drops leaves all year round and sap on any car within 20ft.
Thanks for the suggestions guys.
Sounds like you'd do well in a desert, plenty of oil, and no trees!

And goes off beam and needs re-aligning...and stretches the cable..
Trees also tend to sway a little in the wind, unless it's a Giant Redwood which is unlikely
Wall mounted pole on a "T&K" bracket set-up is the best option, assuming you can get enough height to see over the top of the tree.

Ah yeah, but you can get gyro stabilised platforms.
I think parrot hasn't done an outside broadcast from a ship!
This is a bog-standard Sky dish, not Joddrell Bank
Jodrell Bank, is not gyro stabilised .
Nor is your sense of humour, it would seem
As the Sky Fitter (they are not engineers no matter what they claim) had trouble in the first place he should have suggested a pole, but, if you pay peanuts...
