Round 7 already and we’re in Monaco. Spain was a surprisingly good race, so you never know. The cars will be big old boats around this circuit and will be much slower than previous years.
Slow corner form suggests Ferrari for the win, and you’d back Leclerc to put it on pole. Hamilton generally doesn’t go well here (see last year) so it could be another opportunity for Russell to stake his claim.
Ricciardo really needs a good weekend, particularly if Norris is too ill to race and Piastri is in the other car.
Here’s to a great race.
Date(s): Friday 27 May to Sunday 29 May 2022.
UK Broadcast Timings (and local time)
All sessions are live on Sky F1. Qualifying and the race are shown as highlights on Channel 4.
Live timing for all sessions available here:

Lap times, PU component use, technical reports and Stewards' decisions for the weekend will appear here:

Weather forecast:

Thanks for these thread starters as always.
The big change this year is that the first day is Friday, and not Thursday as has been traditional at Monaco. The rest day for the Ascension Day holiday has been abolished, although the meeting does start on Thursday with some support race practice sessions.

“Hamilton doesn’t go well here” best not mention Charles’ record here then!
A paltry 3 wins. What a loser! I have absolutely no idea how this one will go. RB on form but not sure their high speed performance counts for much here. Quite tempted to suggest a Ferrari pole then converted to a win. I'd love that to be Sainz but would also be great to CL win on home soil. I don't know where the other teams figure in this though. Did I read somewhere that Merc were pretty good on the low speed stuff? McLaren in the picture too?
One more solid prediction though is that without weather or some incidents this will almost certainly be a snoozefest of a race. I love the Monaco GP, such a visual feast but last year's race was the worst F1 race I ever remember. I think I'm right in saying we had no overtakes at all other than off the line. Monaco has always been a bit like that but I feel that these cars are so big now that there really is almost nothing that a driver can do to force a pass. You don't even see anyone getting close out of the tunnel anymore. I cannot imagine this years cars being any different though I cling onto dear hope that being able to follow more closely through casino might open up the odd the sniff into Mirabeau. I'd hate to see this race disappear but I feel that something does need to be done to divert the track somewhere to get an overtaking opportunity. I don't think it's a good look for F1 to have a high speed parade.
I'll still be slavishly tuned in on Sunday afternoon of course!
On an amusing note, I found this article when googling any proposed monaco layout changes. Nothing says quality journalism like tagging a photo of an F3 race inn Macau as a photo of an F1 race in Monaco

Yep, great start to the race build up. Plus I was just about to post - but it's Thursday not Friday, but forgot about the change. I mean I know change is good but I quite liked the quirkiness of Monaco having the Friday 'off'.. Certainly when I went to the race it was great to have a day off in between FP1+2 and FP3 and Qualy. But anyway!!The big change this year is that the first day is Friday, and not Thursday as has been traditional at Monaco. The rest day for the Ascension Day holiday has been abolished, although the meeting does start on Thursday with some support race practice sessions.
Whilst the race does present difficulties in terms of overtakes and these current gen F1 cars are bigger and heavier hopefully the spectacle of Qualifying will mitigate some of that and maybe, just maybe the tyre options will throw up some chances of overtaking in the pits and therefore put pressure on drivers just ahead or behind to push that extra bit more...
Monaco 2007 was when the world (and Alonso) were really put on notice that Hamilton was far more than a No.2 driver and would not just accept being the understudy. Could history repeat itself with Russell?
Charles was on to extend his championship lead in Spain and I hope he can bounce back comfortably.
All jinxes have to end eventually!

Monaco in the dry, isn't a great race unless someone bins it.
Monaco in the wet/damp is a great race however! Mainly because it changes the strategy and increases the chance of mistakes.
Hoping for a strong showing from Ferrari & Mclaren (a boy can dream). Will more likely be a toss up between the Bulls and Ferrari - although RBR's straight line advantage will be less of a thing here compared to Ferrari's higher downforce config.
Mercedes have been said to be strong in the low-medium speed stuff before Spain, so if they truly have got a handle of the porpoising it will be interesting to see how they stack up against the top 2.
Anyone know the weather forecast?

Is there any way to collapse the poll at the top of thread - it's way too large & a pain having to scroll past it every time you come back to the thread.
Totally agree, it's spoiling these threads somewhat for me. I can't see that it adds anything at all.The whole attraction of PH for me is that its free of all this st, its what makes PH totally superior to all other forums imo.
