Navigation on a laptop ?

I've not tried this yet, but the Anquet mapping software has a GPS track mode, and it has excellent 3D landscape rendering ... I assume it can give you a virtual landscape view based on GPS tracking. But it doen't give you any route finding, and it costs several hundred quid. So probably as useful as a custard hammer.
I will have to look that up.iirc tom tom can't be used on a laptop because on incompatible file formats and screen sizes.
When I took my first step along the sat nav road I used my laptop with info map navigator, the split screen cam in handy when going over rounabouts and complex junctions as it drew them in large scale.
The autoroute 04 and 05 set ups don't do this, as it just shows the gps location as you move.
I use tom tom 5 on my pda now, much easier than trying to keep a laptop steady on the passenger seat.
