Son's mate (of a mate) taking the mick? (older car sale)

My son has a 52 reg Skoda 1.8T estate - it's a little tatty and some 'mate of a mate' has offered in £150 for it.

Car has 136k miles on it, is a little tatty but has 10 months MOT and runs well.

I think this is a piss take - what is the PH opinion?

P.S. MODS this is not a veiled attempt at selling the car on here - I am in full understanding of the rules.

A few months ago any running car with a long MOT was doing £400 to £500 on Facebook marketplace and the we buy any scrap cars dealers were paying £250 to 300 for mot failures

It's probably worth more than twice that as scrap. Try sticking the reg in cartakeback or similar to check.
With an MOT for 10 months it has to be worth way more.

Big piss take. I presume he's actually selling it? Bottom line is with prices sky high, car driving well and 10 months MOT left it's worth a good bit more. Mind if he advertises it on facebook, gumtree etc he needs to brace himself for dealing with plenty piss takers.

Probably in the same league as the rest of the zoomers who wade in with low offers, unseen and without even asking anything - it's either really lonely in their world so it's a way of idly killing time or it's a sort of Billy big baws persona that usually doesn't stand up. I'd put money on these types vanishing into thin air if you said "Ok, I accept... when are you collecting?"

Ignore him. List it for sale at a competitive price or if you can't be arsed, as said... many online buyers will give more for it with zero hassle.

It's a ULEZ and CAZ complaint estate with 10 months MOT and and a relatively desirable engine. Worth a grand even in tatty condition.

If its a VRS, it's definitely worth an absolute minimum of a grand! Those things are getting hard to find, even in average condition. If its a standard spec 1.8T, I wouldn't take any less than £800 for it, therefore your sons mate is clearly chancing it, and I wouldn't accept that figure.
