Having a lovely basalt black 997 Carrera S manual being delivered early next week (not being a prima Donna but it’s miles away!!)

Being professionally inspected on Friday but anticipate all will be well, it’s had the IMS upgrade done recently, clutch at that time too, no ticking or obvious bore wear snags
But having it checked just in case.

Can’t wait to get my paws on it. thumbup

I thought all 997.1s had the later large IMS that didn't ever cause any issues and needed the crank case split to replace?

Welcome and hope you'll enjoy it!

I've been in a 997 10 years now and still love mine.

Pics please when it arrives.

Thank you and yes indeed will post pictures. I’m having it inspected Friday so all being well (which I’m sure it is) I’ll pay the balance and all sorted!!

Not sure, mines a December 2004, on a 54 plate but an 05 model apparently. It’s had an IMS upgrade definitely as I’ve seen the receipt.

997s started with MY 2005. Bigger IMS came in 2006.

Looks really nice, good spec.

I had my centre console apart fitting a bluetooth unit and replacing the sticky AC controls this evening. You get to see the build quality under the surface, it's properly built the 997.

Did your inspection pic up anything that needed doing? (I got new discs and pads and a tandem pump from mine. The discs were corroded on the inside so I would never have spotted it myself.)

There are couple of things that are going to be sorted, very slight bearing noise from the water pump, and heat shield a bit loose, and drivers side rad fan inoperative plus couple more minors but deemed to be a very good example which was a relief. I must say the inspection although £400 was absolutely worth every penny, followed up with a really comprehensive report. Can’t wait!!

Congratulations! Now that the 997 PCCM+ is announced you could do that modernising upgrade.

Don't ignore the water pump - mine went at 57k in France in November. Not to be repeated.
