A few months ago we arranged my wife’s birthday away weekend, 3 nights in 3 places, Ross On Wye, Barmouth and Llandudno.
In 11 years together we have never been away in a none Alfa, apart from the one time in a Mazda 323, clutch went.
I have not owned one for 18 months, the itch started recently, could not imagine going away in the Volvo, good as it is.
Agreed with a handshake to buy this from a friend today, very early, very original 2.0 twinspark + spares.
He is going to clean it, replace the front shocks and brake pads, sleeve on the exhaust as there is a slight blow.
Cambelt and bits may be due, he will throw in the bits and I will fit it all.
My 24th Alfa, 14th with this engine.
I think it is gorgeous.

Bang on ‘shed budget’.

Technically 23, until he brings me this and takes the money :-)

She is going in for a bit of sill welding this week, front bumper (I did it) is being painted as is the new wing, I'm hoping he will fit it as well.

Love a 156. I had one about 2007, W reg 2.0 TSpark, manual in rosso red with the lovely black embossed interior, factory skirts though no boot spoiler.Teledial alloys, bought with 40k on the clock.Never let me down in 4 and a half years, only gripe was A/C was asthmatic a bit, even with everything tested.Proper nice car to drive, not 'fast',but still a really good drivers car and looked beautiful. I would like a nice 155 actually, but hen's teeth really now for a good one I suspect. That's a nice blue you have though, suits the car.

I’ve no idea why, but on the seldom occasions I see one of these or a Brera I just can’t stop looking at it. Absolute thing on beauty imo, the lines are just perfect , proportions are perfect and they just have real visual appeal to me. Also, added bonus is that in the 80’s I had a pair of farah’s in a similar colour smile

In every way the 156 is better than a 155, saying that I have had 7 155's... This is my 2nd 156, hmmm.

I know what you mean, though I have not wanted to own a Brera, I'd say 80's/90's Alfas are my thing... That's why my daily is a giulietta... :-)

Looks grreat, keen to see how the spoiler looks as only ever seen it on a red car.

I have just foudn out, incredibly, that a 156 twinspark is ULEZ exempt down here in miserable London... this may prompt more investigation...!

I was doing my GCSE's in 98 and did a presentation in English on the launch of the 156.

Doesn't seem like 2 minutes ago.

I had a black 146Ti years ago.. Needed some love/cambelt so I sold it. I kinda wish I'd give it more of a chance knowing what I do now.. Do fancy another Alfa at some point and I do like a 156..

Can't remember the last time I saw a 156 anywhere. One of those cars that just seems to have disappeared.

Not sure about the wing OP but otherwise great work!

A while back I managed to drive into our own gatepost, gouged and scraped the o/s corner of the front bumper.
A friend repaired and painted it, he also did a bit on the n/s lower wing, it's a superb colour match, fitted today and treated her to new plate screws and caps.

BFOW fitted. big f##k off wing...
Great trepidation at drilling the boot lid, I added lock washers and rubber seals for each fastener. I Love it.

Down by the river.
Later, rear arb bushes and make an exhaust fit.
