And getting bits of tyre " ripped off" for lack of a better word

Only seem to be on the outer edge of each tyre

I have had a couple of sets on my Octavia VRS... Mine did it, but then I was ripping the arse out of them on a regular basis so I figured that's what you get.

I must have mellowed a bit because the current set are ok.

I think the tread blocks move about a bit more than a regular tyre so it can happen.

Looks like bits just falling off due to the cracking of the tread blocks.

What is the DOT code on the sidewall?

Obviously they are more of either an all weather or winter type tyre. Is that the sort of environment they have largely been used in ?

If more dry roads etc it is bound to take a tougher toll on them

you can get feathering or castellation on tyres if tracking is out

Looks to be at least a contributing factor here. I've a set of Nankang winters that have seen circa 25k and have been over some pretty appalling surfaces yet still look like new.

Also fitted to a rice pudding car. smile
