Fantastic, another £300k 911 you cannot buy. Perfect.

Um, what is happening exactly smile The article is vague and littered with caveats. It all looks a bit clickbaity to me. It sounds like a lightened GT3 Touring with a double bubble roof and slightly different aero. If so then that does sound nice, regardless of it just being more Porsche unobtainium rolling off a production line. (A run of 2000 is higher than I would expect, typo maybe, 200 would probably raise less eyebrows)

"None of this has been confirmed by Porsche."

Porsche are losing their credibility by introducing so many supposedly limited editions on essentially the same car. Put them all together and its one mass produced car with different trinkets to fool everyone into thinking they're more exclusive and special than they actually are !

I find it hard to see how it would be much different from a 992 GT3 touring> other than a bubble roof, which do look good.
Mind you, I am yet to see a 992 GT3 touring up for sale, I would guess 270K looking at the standard GT3 prices?

However the 992 Sports Classic is unique in the manual RWD turbo format. The only strange thing to me is the 0-60 figure is 4.1 seconds, which is the same as the quoted figure for the manual GTS.

Not only that, but people then spec them with all the essential luxury resale options that make the special model classification meaningless.

Is this supposed to be a 992 GT3 RS Touring?

No, that's a different iteration with slightly different shaped wing mirrors which are optional on the ST.

It’s only a matter of time until trickle chargers and dust covers are included as standard.

Or Porsche just start releasing 911s as NFTs.

No as they said the remaining heritage editions won't be motorsport derived.

It can’t be long until I’m denied an allocation in the metaverse too. biggrin

At the risk of sounding positive, I think I’d say yes if my dealer offered me an allocation.

Just contacted my dealer. I'd trade my incoming Touring immediately for this one. But am also under no illusions of securing one...

My guess this is the 992 equivalent of the 991.1 911 R. You’d like to think they’d throw the lightweight book at it but for it to really make a difference on a car like the 992 would be very difficult and expensive. Never driven one but the R was supposed to be a very different road drive to the GT3…maybe this will be the same,

The R felt surprisingly different to the GT3. I drove one back to back with my Touring at the PEC and it was much more playful and light on its feet. Much more fun on the road.

Porsche love a special edition and there are always people queuing up to buy them no matter how carp they may be
