Factory Collection 19/5 CANCELLED?!
Discussion
I just had an email from my OPC here in Germany cancelling my factory collection. This is the latest in a long line of issues (spec incorrect - wrong suspension and missing internal carbon, brake & maintenance issues with my Macan lasting 7 months, problems with the payments being accepted). I’m already being offered a GT3 facelift build slot, so I’m not sure what else these clowns can offer me.
I’m now left with a vacation plan in ruins. I was going to the Black Forest with my new car and some friends, my Macan is going with my other half to a running event near Hamburg, we’ve already put my car in her name. I’m speechless, furious and disappointed. They say no factory collection appointments are possible until July, and the car is already 6 months late.
I’m debating whether to tell them to shove it, and go buy a McLaren, or try and find a solution. Any ideas?

They told me the car is late off production by 3 days. Bear in mind this was an August 2021 order, due February. I booked the collection with a huge buffer zone back in February as I knew they had issues. What makes me mad is how they just don’t understand that people plan around stuff like this. I’ve had to rebook hotels for me and 2 others, and cancel train tickets too. They now say I can have the car 24/5. I should mention I’ve had a running battle with the OPC for brake issues on my Macan since October. I’m honestly so fed up and frustrated, if I could think of an equivalent or better & in stock alternative I would ditch the brand entirely.
For example I made bullet points of the chronology of the issues I’ve had, 5 pages at 11pt font, and I’m trying to be brief. Back in the UK I loved Porsche, in Germany, they are a bunch of clowns.

This is really disappointing to hear, makes a mockery of the stereotype "German efficiency".
If it makes you feel any better, I placed my 992 Carrera GTS order at the very start of July 2021, was told by my dealer that my car would be here Dec 2021 or Jan 2022 at the latest (Actually have this written on my order form by them). I only got an allocation in Feb 2022 and now expecting car end of July/ beginning of Aug 2022, all being well etc... So in that respect you're doing better than me, as you ordered after me and getting your car sooner!
But I totally understand your frustrations, it must just be a bad experience you're having with that particular OPC. Is there a Porsche Customer Services equivalent in Germany, of Porsche UK Headquarters in Reading, where you can complain? As this normally puts a rocket up the dealers backside...

Hey Schuey, sadly I’ve been down the calling Stuttgart route. It’s a waste of time. I know how good Porsche are in the UK, I had issues with a Cayman once, they worked with the OPC in West London and swapped me into a better specification & newer Boxster.
Over here the OPC just does what they like. I was badly affected by a poor salesman who just made excuses. Now I’m dealing with another guy and management. Sadly there is a lot of water under the bridge, and Porsche themselves cancelled this collection not the OPC.
Until today, to fix the previous issues I’ve been offered a GT3 slot and flexible terms if I want to return the GTS. Free summer and winter tyres for my Macan, free winter tyres for my 992 GTS. That was assuming the issues stopped coming. Short of asking for the blood of the salesman’s first born, what else can they give me?! 🤣

Hey Dortmund,
What they're offering you in compensation is fantastic, as you know an allocation for a 992 GT3 Touring is like rocking horse poo, so to be promised that then you're in a very favourable position indeed. And then everything else they're offering you on top.
So whilst not ideal and you should not have to deal with this level of incompetence, on the bright side you have been promised one of the most sought after cars in the World right now. So just try to move forward and accept the situation as it is. I understand you want to vent.

Hey Schuey! Me? Vent?! And another thing!!!! Ok, Ok, fair enough!
Yeah, you’re right, I’m being offered some fabulous stuff now. I honestly just wish they had got the basics right though. That said, I’m no A-Lister, and the GT3 will be nice in a few years time. Professionally I consult on projects, so p-ss poor planning really presses my buttons. I feel for the guys at the local OPC, with one or two exceptions, they are good chaps.
Anyway; onward and upward. The GTS comes on the 24th May. Assuming it’s not somehow been specced pink with a green interior when I get to Zuffenhausen, I’m sure I will love it. It’s going to be worth waiting for…
At least I can now spend next weekend buying and setting up a hot tub. The other half is away, as she thought I was too, so now I can surprise her 😘

. So based on your above response, are you still able to collect from Zuffenhausen or will you be collecting from your local OPC, in Dortmund I presume?I'm hoping to do a trip to Germany in mine once I get it, bit of a tour for me, will do Nurburgring and Porsche Museum in Stuttgart while I'm over there.

Zuffenhausen is back on, just 5 days later… I can now get excited again. Can I recommend a little detour for you, if you’re in this part of the world?
Check out Baden Baden & Freudenstadt. More specifically the B500 road in between them. It’s HochWald Straße, one of the finest roads in Germany. The road gets busy, but if you’re up early on a fine day you can have it to yourself. There’s two
Cameras, one at each end of the main climb, and none in between 😘
Also, Baden Baden has some of the finest spa facilities I’ve ever seen, from the upper class Brenner Park, to the more affordable Friedrichsbad (Roman bath…) and Carasana pool and sauna village. Both are bloomin’ awesome.

Tell them to shove it unless they give you a Sports Classic allocation. 11 pages of issues suggests you have more than a legal case under the sale of goods act. Go the legal route and then see what they say.Zuffenhausen is back on, just 5 days later… I can now get excited again. Can I recommend a little detour for you, if you’re in this part of the world?

Good news on Zuffenhausen collection and thank you for the detour recommendation. I have noted this down and closer to the time I'll try and plan this in depending on my schedule. Glad its all sorted. Is there not a running in period? seems like you want to go fast, and soon, but can you in the first 1000 miles?Check out Baden Baden & Freudenstadt. I’m planning a gentle ride for the first 1000km or so. I’ve been advised to vary the revs, up and down, and not to max the car out until beyond 1000km.
I’m taking the car to an area I know well. Truth be told, you can’t truly max out a 992 on the B500, it’s mountains, trees and views. You don’t need to redline to be smiling.

Ah i see. Well have a blast, hope it all goes well. Make sure they throw in some nice gifts considering the hassle. A free umbrella isn't going to cut it.I’m taking the car to an area I know well. Will you visit the Porsche museum whilst there?
I’ve got the full package. Tour, meal, museum. Then Baden Baden and the spa, beer and great food with a good friend.
Honestly, after waiting a year for the car, getting it will be a real treat.
Plus, I have the GT3 to look forward to when it’s released.
Ironically, I told them not to give me an umbrella. It’s like Balenciaga clothes, not my thing, a bit too showy. Not discreet like a Carmine red GTS with an aero kit…
