How the hell much to respray?!?

Just phoned up to get a quote for a complete respray, on the basis that car is completely stripped of all fittings etc and all welding done. The place i phoned sponsers a mini 7 so i was expecting some empathy. He reckons 80 to a 100 hours at £28.50 an hour + materials. £3000! 2 weeks solid work? Looks like i'll be doing it myself in cellulose.

What should a decent respray cost?

probably anywhere between £800 and £1500 depending on bits to be painted (eg engine bay etc) and amount of prep required.if it`s £3000 for a mini they don`t work fast enough!!

I've been quoted £450 - but all the prep has been done including priming and flatting.
It's one of the best paint shops around so I'm looking forward to the results!!
